So I’m visiting a customer on Thursday in Pullman (driving from Seattle). I’ll spend 1 night before driving back to Seattle on Friday. Which city would you pick?

Just want your personal opinion on what you would do. I want to live vicariously through you;-)

Spokane if you want to hit the city with the highest concentration of breweries. Tri-Cities would be my second pick and Pullman is dead last.

My real first pick would be Yakima Valley. Varietal in Sunnyside, then Single Hill, Cowiche Creek, Wandering Hop and Bale Breaker back in Yakima followed by dinner at Cowiche Creek Kitchen and Ice House.

Spoklahoma for sure. Bunch of good brewery and food options. I love Iron Goat's beers. @woemad ???

This is such a great recommendation, I feel like I want to hop in my car this instant, drive out to Yakima and spend my weekend doing exactly this.

I'd go with Spokane. But I'm biased. If you're gonna be downtown, especially towards the west end, you could walk to multiple breweries. If just barnstorming through, and want to do lunch or dinner, hit up either Iron Goat or Whistle Punk. Iron Goat has better food than any brewery with a kitchen that small has any right to. Whistle Punk technically has no food, but the restaurant next door in the same building, called Heritage, will walk a food order over to you. The Fancy Nancy's and the hashbrown burger are both very solid items.

Well, now that you are unemployed, maybe you can hit Cowiche Kitchen more frequently....

Thanks for all the feedback. I booked a room in Yakima.

I’ll let you know how it goes!

I got into Yakima in late afternoon. Checked into the HIlton Garden Inn downtown then headed over to Cowiche Creek. Nice location on top of a hill surrounded by orchards. I sat inside because it was a little windy and cool for my So Cal pansy ass, but the outdoor area looked really cool. Lots of picnic tables in a big grassy area with nice views of the surrounding orchards. Had the Farmer Way first, solid westy, but the East Livingston I had next was spectacular. DDH westy that hit all the right notes (fruit and dankness).

Headed back to town to have dinner at Cowiche Canyon. Had the International Harvester burger. Really solid. Started with a Top Cutter from Bale Breaker, a really good west coast IPA. Ended the IPA streak with a Damn Amber from Wandering Hop. Really good hoppy amber. I sat at the main bar. They have another bar called the Icehouse that looked cool but it was closed the night I was there. I can see why you guys like it, really cool place.

Ended the night at Single Hill. Cool tasting room 1 block from the hotel. Had their German Pilsner. In my wheelhouse for the style. On the hoppy side.

Thanks for the all suggestions. I would have never thought of Yakima, but I’m glad I ask for my fellow BAers recommendations. Always exceptional.

Dood, glad you had a great time, but visiting Yakima without actually going to Bale Breaker is at a minimum, a lost opportunity.

Parking your vehicle a body's length away from the bines, at a brewery that was carved out of a chunk of the families hop yard, is a beer nerd treat. The fact that Bale Breaker's beers are top notch is aost a bonus. Almost.

Yakima should always be your first choice. It's hop country, yo.

Glad you had a good time. Did Cowiche Canyon not have any Haas beers on tap? Haas is one of the largest hop brokers in the country and they have a pilot brewery on site called the Innovation Lab that brews up batches with hop varietals to help sell them to customers. Cowiche Canyon is from what I know, the only place the general public ever gets to try those beers.

Yeah, I could only do one since I was driving myself. I think I was swayed by all the accolades that Cowiche Creek’s FH beer got. As for the bines, there weren’t any right. I bet in late summer it is something else though!

Yeah, the hops are just getting going now, but another month or so and those guys will be climbing like crazy.
