Ok, did a quick search for German Sparkle Party but only found posts of people trashing this beer. Needless to say my girlfriend must try this. She said she contacted 10 Barrel in Bend and was told its on tap for growler fills. Just wondering what it trades for, is it pretty regularly available or once a year release? Their website is pretty crappy on my phone so cant get much info there. I plan to drive up there for some Boneyard in April or this summer so was just curious. Any feedback appreciated. Cheers
I don't know what it trades for, but it's produced fairly regularly. It's also the base beer for the "Crush Series" (Cucumber Crush, Black Currant Crush, etc) of flavored Berliners.
Pretty sure there's no established trading market for this beer, so it trades for whatever it takes to motivate somebody to get off their ass and get it. Don't know what it costs to fill at the brewery, but when it's around town at growler fill stations it's $12-13/64oz. I'd guess it was brewed twice last year, no set schedule that I know of.
There are at least a few Bendites who trade, and it looks like you've got a positive trade reputation. I'd be surprised if a post in ISO:FT didn't get any responses.
Shows up regularly around Seattle as well as Bend so getting a trade shouldn't be hard. Folks trashing it are either just not into the style - it's a bit of a sweeter take on a Berliner - or they're just smack talking due to InBev. As stated above, it's a really crushable, tasty beer. Not the same, but right now it's big brother - Black Currant Crush - is on tap for growler fills at a seattle bar called Uber. The crush versions do seem to show up more often than the German Sparkle Party base. If this were in cans, you bet there'd be a trade market for it.
Thanks, I figured the InBev situation would play a part. Good to know it makes it as far as Seattle. I'm not a fan of Berliner's myself but if I'm getting growlers you bet ill take some to the face.
Because of the name or because she's really into berliners? I gave this beer a 4.5, so I'm not discouraging you from getting it, but if you're looking for the best representation of a 10 Barrel berliner, I'd suggest the Cucumber Crush variant.
A friend of hers in Oregon told her it was great but that its super hard to find. Her friend isn't big on beers but it has peaked my girls interest none the less.
