The other I wore my T-shirt from the 2014 Washington Brewers Festival. On the back was a list of participating breweries. I noticed that some are still around, some have gone to that great barley field in the sky, and others, I'm not sure about. So, here's three categories: Here, Gone, I dunno. Please add your thoughts, corrections, and breweries who maybe didn't make the shirt from a decade ago.

    HERE:
7 Seas, Anacortes, Bainbridge Island, Bale Breaker, Bellevue, Big Time, Black Raven, Boundary Bay, Chuckanut, Diamond Knot, Dick's, E9, Elliot Bay, Elysian, Foggy Noggin, Fremont, Georgetown, Ice Harbor, Iron Goat, Iron Horse, Kulshan, Lazy Boy, Mac & Jack's, Machine House, Maritime Pacific, McM's (Mill Creek), No-Li, North Sound, Old Schoolhouse, Peddler, Pike, Reuben's, Roslyn, Scuttlebutt, Seapine, Silver City, Skookum, Stoup.

    GONE:

Airways, Alpine, American, Big Al, Fish, Hale's, Hilliard's, Issaquah Brewhouse (Rogue), Justice, Naked City, New Belgium(? Maybe as part of Elysian?), Northwest, Odin, Pyramid, Red Hook (Woodinville), Schooner Exact, Two Beers, Valholl.

    I DUNNO:

Amnesia, Backwoods, Brickyard, Der Blokken, Duvall Springs, Gallaghers Where U Brew, Geaux, Gordon Biersch, Harmon, Heathen, Hi-Fi, Hood Canal, Island Hoppin', Laht Neppur, Lantern, NW Peaks, Orlison, Paradise Creek, Rainy Daze, Ram (Seattle), Ramblin' Road, Riverport, Salish Sea, Snipes Mountain, Snoqualmie Falls, Sound, Strong Arm, Triplehorn, Twelve Bar, Wingman, Yakima Craft.

I think a lot of the I Dunno's are gone, but if I wasn't sure, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Amnesia is gone (RIP). Pretty sure NW Peaks is dead too.

The original Laht Nepper in Waitsburg is still around, but their pub spot in downtown Walla Walla went toes up years ago. I think folks in Waitsburg mostly go there for the pizza, as the beer made there is pretty "mehhh."

As for Harmon, I think there's still a restaurant/bar presence in downtown Tacoma, but I believe the brewery ceased operations some years ago.

I wasn't aware that there was a Gordon Biersch anywhere in the PNW, but I'm pretty sure there isn't one now. I think the San Jose airport is the closest location you need to go to now to get your garlic fries fix.

The Ram location in the Northgate mall closed years ago I believe.

To the best of my knowledge, Snoqualmie Falls is still going strong, continuing to make their excellent wildcat IPA.

Peddler was taken over by Bickersons Brewhouse in 2022.
I just happened to visit NW Peaks a few weeks before they closed.
Backwoods seems to be still around in Carson, WA I liked their stouts but haven't seen them in Seattle for a while.
Ram is still around WA and OR, but the Seattle location has been gone a while.
Der Blokken is now Chaos Bay Brewing
Airways is till around in Kent

It was in downtown Seattle, quick google search produced a FB post saying 1/13/2019 was their last day.

There's a Ram at the Outlet Mall in Tulalip/Arlington too. The one on the shirt just said Seattle, so, shrug? I think there's still a Ram down near Olympia as well.

BTW, the Ram in Tulalip still makes ZZ Hop, which was a great beer. It was on tap in the Brewers lounge area of one of the WA Brewers Fest (maybe this one?), and there weren't many sober folks heading back to their booths after 'taking a break'.

Yeah, I remember Kevin Davey brewing there after he came back from FW, but before he opened Wayfinder.

Makes me kind of sad to see what's become of them. The original location in Palo Alto was a destination spot. It was probably the first "fine dining meets craft beer" location I ever went to. Prolong waits to get a table we're typical... Food there was quite good and their original lagers were first rate. Ah well...

Heathen is definintely still around. Three locations in Vancouver: a production brewery/kitchen, a taproom, and a winery (which I just learned about).

Yeah, I think they're still all over the place in the NW... just not in Seattle anymore.

Former NW Forum denizen @tozerm worked for them for a while. I just haven't seen or heard of them in a while. I could go for a couple Wildcat IPAs.

Hmmmm..... this looks like a job for someone to go through the list and see which still admit to brewing beer. there's some real obscurity there, tho I sadly miss Schooner Exact and Hi-Fi (used to be across from Black Raven), and even Sound and Airways.

One of the most informative and pleasant visits I can remember was at Hi-Fi. It was a really slow day and Black Raven just dropped one of their big beers but there was no overflow to Hi-Fi. As a result, I got a tour of the brewing facilities and a very interesting discussion of micro brewing by the owner/brewer. I liked their beer too, which included a couple of less common styles. It was a nice brewpub space. Probably just too small to pull people from their larger neighbor.

I had a couple of similar good times there as well with the friendliest of brewers. And the name came from the fact that they had turntables and played real vinyl. Ahead of their time, it would seem now.

I was pretty sure Valholl went down well before Covid. Is it still the same ownership?

I don't think they ever closed, but there is new ownership. One of the owners is Don Spencer, former brewmaster of Silver City. I was up there in June and chatted with Don. He seemed happy being there. The beers at Valholl have definitely improved with him being there.

I just got an email invite to Gallagher's for their annual pig roast party so they're still around.

That's awesome that Don Spencer is still involved in craft beer. Makes me want to track down some Valholl beer since Silver City was my first favorite WA brewery back in the day.

i knew Don casually back in the day. He gave me a ride over to Hood Canal Brewing during American Brewing's opening Day party, and had time to kill before the train home. Good dude.
