Well it seems that a couple of us have been on here now for a full decade. A lot has changed around here since then. There was hardly any Aussies on here, the most active was Rastaman who it seems has since moved on. There was no Australian forum, just a bare few of us who would sometimes cross paths on various threads. A bloke from Tassie called Joecast showed up not long after me... The big, cool name in Aussie beer was Little Creatures Pale Ale which made it into the sites top 100 beers for a while. Grand Ridge was a desired brand and Burragarong Bock was perhaps the most highly sort out Australian beer. The big thing in Beer Festivals was The National festival of Beers in Brisbane and the premier beer bars in Australia were The Spotted Cow in Toowoomba , The Lambs go Bar in Fiztroy or The Australian Hotel in Sydney. Alpha Pale Ale was known to very few and was made by the Masthead Brewery and not Matilda Bay. Wig and Pen made great beer.... After a bit of petitioning we got our own forum and names like Koolk, stoutbot, Diabolos14, Ayellan, Carlos and others showed up.... don't see them around anymore. Other names came and went... usually here for a few years and then the interest waned or life priorities took them away from the forum. A busy work and family life slows me down from posting here as much anymore but I am still around. Here's to another decade and cheers to you Joecast for another decade or 3 of good beer.
time flies when you are having fun, eh? Have to say, Ian, your insight has been missed these last few months, Still, as Spicelab put it, the forum has somewhat morphed into a cryogenic state - I guess you would have also seen many ups 'n' downs, activity wise over the years. re family, I can remember your post immediately after your first was born, euphoria or what... hope all is well. cheers,
Congratulations Ian and Joe!! Making it to 3 years in some of the other forums is an achievement, let alone 10! Hope all is going well with the new venture up there.
congrats for a 10 years. Helpful hint for making it another 10 years...................Do not use MS paint or broker a deal for some rare lambics out of Europe.
I feel the time has come where all lambics should be directed towards my mouth. All of them. I think this is fair.
Hey, thanks for that Ian! And congrats to you too. Yeah, seen quite a few come and go but it's always been a good group of passionate Australian BAs. I still remember some of the forum dramas and the obscure inside jokes. Anyway, as the saying goes, good beer = good people and you guys are no exception. Cheers!
