For my 1000th I opened a bottle of 2009 Utopias a few months after it's release. 2000th kind of came and went for me because I wasn't paying close enough attention at the time. 3000th was 2007 Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock. 4000th was Baller Stout (disappointing). Who knows what 5000 will bring!

I say roll with the MC here because Bomb! is good and Angel's Share is also but I feel both of them are more readily available and easier to get your hands on. I think with MC you'll find it to be really good especially if it's this years batch. I felt it was better this year than last year from what I remembered.

Yeah, I never gambled on a bottle - I waited to try it on tap. Probably the booziest of any bourbon barrel aged beer I've tried.

I voted Bomb, but Mexican Cake would work, too. You never know what you're going to get with an Angel's Share.

You can use the "Hads" on this site...the dreaded and somewhat justifiably maligned system for giving a beer a quick score. It's kind of equivalent of "ticking" on UnTapped - it will record that you've had the beer, and mark a total score (no details like a full review). Put some thought into it - don't just put a number as an artificial placeholder - give it a score based on overall impression. Then the responsible thing to do (in my opinion) would be to backtrack through and write the review if you've had more than a tasting sip. In other words, I think it is generally frowned upon to try and write a review from a 2 ounce sample. You can combine the hads/reviews and keep track that way.

If you find the beer name on BA, up at the top there's a grey section that says whether you have rated it or not, and gives you the choice to review or rate. Then under your name in the upper right it says "beers" and your list will populate itself. For example, mine has 148 total beers, 131 reviews. Most of those 17 making up the difference I've only had a couple ounce tastings which I don't feel does justice to the beer in writing a review.

Or use a spreadsheet. Everything I try goes in my spreadsheet along with my inventory (although my inventory is pretty inaccurate). But I keep my notes there as well. Handy and works for me. Do what works for you.

I recently hit my 1000th since keeping track, chose a De Garde Lee Noir. Voted Mexican cake for you.

I say try whatever for 1000. Have a plan B though. If you are underwhelmed with your #1000 then drink your favorite beer ever (that you can easily obtain) to celebrate the 1000 marker. Its a celebration milestone. Make sure to enjoy it.

PS: I'm about a month out as well on hitting 1000!

I had Maine Dinner for my 500th. I've had angel's share, and it was great. I have a bottle of Bomb! in the cellar for an occasion, and I've never had mexican cake but I'd love to get a hold of one some day. So I would say cake just because I can't have it!

Think I will celebrate today, tomorrow, and also Sunday, because it is possible I may be drinking my 2000th or maybe 2500th, beer on one of those days. Hell, could be any day for the rest of the year, may as well celebrate as if it was. Ahh, the joys of NOT ticking.

Congrats OP. I would drink the MC just because I like it better than the other 2

Thanks everyone! This thread took off much more than I expected. Mexican Cake seems to be the overwhelming favorite, but I like @fredmugs suggestion of waiting for my birthday for MC...we'll see, it's only about 40 days away...maybe I can hold out and do MC as my 1000th on my b-day. As for @hopley 's suggestion, I don't think I want Miller Lite, but I've already ticked that anyway. Being a ticker fits me well, @LeRose I also have a spreadsheet because I enjoy comparing beers and breweries.

Aroma was amazing, I just thought the whiskey flavor was a bit overpowering in the taste. Still good, just need to be a big bourbon fan to enjoy. I reviewed it as a 3.73.
