They don't brew it, they just own it. Hard way, indeed.

    Building a
Building a globally dominate brand and dominating your respective sector is not greed. It's called good business and success. Not greed. Also as others have said the 89% is not just AB but multiple companies. The fact that a smaller number of companies make up the 89% shows they were making correct business decisions all along. Including the trend of big buying little as of late. It's just good business.

No it's called being successful. Businesses no matter how nice the people who own it are in it to make a profit and grow. Sure there are some who choose to hold at a certain level but that is not the goal of most. If you think a business becoming successful is "greedy" than I stand by my first point of you don't know what the fuck your talking about.

    Cheers

Considering certain business strategies I would consider underhanded and bully-ish, I stand by my point. I know what you're talking about, and I know what I'm talking about. It's YOU who does not get what I'M talking about. I know how business works, I just disagree with it. If you can't accept that I disagree with big business (in any industry) and am willing to voice my opinion, well get off the god damn internet.

If that doesn't convince you, it doesn't have to.

Hey to each their own. Calling a group of successful business greedy in a market ripe with competition is just not right though plain and simple. 89% is not one company. Even if it was if you make a product that the MAJORITY prefers at an affordable price how is that greed? I think that's my biggest problem is you use greed IMO that is the wrong word. But then again I'm anti "let's distribute the wealth" and all that too lol. Thanks convo. Cheers!

I'm not "for distribution of wealth", I'm anti wealth. Fair enough?

Any company that is losing market share and sales but doesn't do anything about it doesn't know how to run a business. Look at the trend. Each year craft beer gains market share. As any company you have to make adjustments or your end or end up like blockbuster and tower records.

I'm fine with losing macro beers, predominately AB-Inbev (i.e. Blockbuster). :grinning:

Your more than entitled to your opinion. On a curious note however are you anti personal wealth as well? If so define what you consider wealthy.

Wealth for the sake of being wealthy and at the expense of the not so wealthy.

I'm drawing a line between thriving and being stupid rich.

More specifically, not individual wealth, but collective.

but hey, armchair economics aside, I don't think the beer (a la bud light) is actually that bad.

    Absolutely not socialism.

    Think anarcho-primitivism.

Socialism is a necessary part of (comfortable) capitalism. I like having roads, police, hospitals etc..But let's not forget the critical entreprenarial spirit of the true craft brewer.

Yeah... My first thought was this might be a vague thread about some 11% ABV beer(s). Then I'm treated to yet another story about craft beer's market share and predictable snark aimed at A-B... followed by an armchair economic discussion of business, capitalism, greed, socialism, and anarchy.

Part of me wants to believe that a clear thread title can help keep a discussion on track, but that's probably just wishful thinking.
