http://blog.seattlepi.com/washingto...-the-apocalypse-continues-at-elysian-brewing/ Has anyone had any of these? I just heard about it, me and my lady are both off tomorrow so we'll be walking over to Elysian on the hill to check it out, can't wait.
I've had both the Nibiru & the Rapture, neither of which impressed me too much. I'll keep trying them though, 'cause I'm a sucker for a new beer.
I was intrigued by the idea when I heard about it, but after only seeing the first 3 on the shelf and not trying any, I'm not impressed. None of them described something I'd want to spend my money on when I have lots of other options.
I originally thought it would be a cool idea to collect all 12. I tried the Nibiru and was not impressed at all. Very bland and boring. And Rapture didn't excite me. So I decided that my original idea was a waste of time and money. Plus, Elysian is not a brewery I regularly buy from anyways.
I feel this way about most of elysians brews, except dragonstooth, I really love that beer. Everything else I have from them is just solid, not good, not bad, solid. My girlfriend was looking at the bottle art online and she talked me into going over there today to check it out. I'll go in with low expectations then maybe I won't feel so let down.
I have liked all 3 so far, but have not been real excited about them. I will try all 12 though, as the series is fun to me. I have been loving their Idiot Sauvin IPA though!
Some of the stuff Elysian puts out is mediocre at best, but some of the stuff is really good. At least I think so. Idiot Sauvin is a great beer. As for the Apocalypse series, I'm collecting them. I've tried the first two, and wasn't impressed at all. I hear the third one is actually pretty good. Hard to justify collecting them if they aren't that great (they are about $7-8), but I like the novelty and the brewery.
