I am willing to accept the 12 oz size when it comes in a 4/6 pack. Otherwise it seems there is no price break vs bombers.
As to quantity ABV don't really care because the larger format encourages sharing.

I prefer a 12 oz format for high ABV beers since I'm the only beer drinker at home and getting together with the guys in a situation where I can bring a bomber or two to share isn't common enough for me to see a bomber on the shelf and grab it for that purpose.

12oz format makes it easy to enjoy a big beer by yourself in one sitting. For the really high ABV ones, a bomber is just too much, sometimes even when sharing. 500ml (16.9oz) is my favorite bottle type. Not too small to share with a decent sized group and not too big to solo dome

I also like the format, lots of pretty tasty stuff out there. Yesterday I had the Grand Teton Double Vision, pretty tasty. Picked up some FW Stickee Monkee yesterday at $10 each, not too bad.

    Cheers!

Yeah, 12oz is great. Anything over 10% and I'm usually fine with a 6oz pour and share with a friend. I really don't care if the price per oz. isn't most efficient to me. At the end of the day, I just see how much I spent on beer for the week. If 12oz bottle is less hit to my wallet than 22oz or 750ml buy to get my fix on a big beer, I win and my money can go towards other things in life (or other beers for variety).

From a drinking perspective, I love the trend.

    Just wish the value remained.

I've been a proponent for 12oz packaging for higher ABV beers, particularly stouts, porters, barleywines (both BA and not). I think it's great to see more going to this format & hope it gains momentum. I agree with others in that it just makes sense from a single serving size perspective. I still give pause when I see them reaching and passing the $1 per oz threshold, however. So value still certainly needs to be there for me. I give a hard pass to all Prairie as their Shelton Brothers tax is ridiculous imo (compare PAA prices for states where Shelton distributes them vs not and you'll see) but I digress slightly. I do wish BCBS would go back to 12 oz bottles, especially 4 pks. Hell, doing the quick math with the new bottles being about $10 per here I would certainly pay ~$28 for a 4 pk of 12 oz bottles and would pick up singles @ $7 per too.

Definitely a fan of 12oz booze bombs, but with a hermetus and a couple days, anything is possible. Some of the brands that do a large quantity of their business are in 12oz BA beers: Central Waters (apparently 30% of their volume per a Paste story) and New Holland (Dragons Milk). Weyerbacher also comes to mind

There are multiple reasons I like the 12 oz format vs bomber. The high ABV is definitely a big factor. Drinking more than 12 oz of a 12-17% ABV beer is a lot. The second factor is price. Certainly the price per oz seems to be a worse deal in the 12 oz vs 750 ml but its the overall price that's more important to me. I look at it more as I can spend $18 and get one 750 ml bottle or I can spend $10-11 on a 12 oz bottle and then being able to buy maybe another 2 to 4 regular beers. The $18 is an opportunity cost loser even though its a better price per oz. The extra $7-8 can then be spent on more beers

People are confusing 12 oz single vs 6-pack of 12 oz bottles.

Paid $16 for a bottle of Firestone Walker Bravo at a very over-priced and over-hyped beer shop in NC. They also had bottles of The Bruery White Chocolate for $42+.:astonished:

Lost Abbey also comes to mind. Wish more would. Been seeing some 16oz cans of big stouts, which I can do solo, but would rather it be 12.
