I am seeing 120 minute everywhere I go right now. Small mom and pop stores have 12 sitting in their coolers... what is going on? Does anyone know if they increased production and distribution of 120? I now have 12 in my fridge... couldn't find 2 last year.

DFH 120 flew the shelves in NJ and it used to sit around for a year or more.

I think when it was released last fall in NJ it flew off the shelves and most stores limited it to 1 bottle per customer but for the last few months I also see it on shelves in a lot of stores and it's not selling so quickly anymore.

exact opposite here. I felt like getting a couple bottles when it first came out this year was a success. Then I go into a local store and they have 8 in the cooler. I buy them feeling like I just stole something... then I go to another place and they have 12 on the shelf... I buy 4 and feel like this is getting weird. Then yesterday I go into a local shop where the closest thing to craft they usually have is Shock Top and they have 16 in the cooler... It is soooo odd

I think they lost a few batches so it became pretty rare for a little while.
I know I saw them dump at least one batch on their short-lived TV show.

Just goes to show you can't please everybody. When it was hard to find, people complain about it. When it's easy to find, people complain about it or wonder why it's so plentiful, which in my book is complaining.

It's because it's not a very good beer. Beers like that tend to sit around.

    How do you quote posts?

anyways... otis. I am not complaining about it being available, I am asking if anyone knows why it is so plentiful this year? Never seen it like this so I thought they increased production. Thought this forum, if any, would have people who might know. If I was complaining about it I wouldn't have 12 bottles stored.

I had it on tap at the Brewery last summer and at the Brewpub in Rehoboth and loved it. Bought 8 bottles when it finally appeared on shelves last fall and did not care for the 2 of them I had. Hoping with some age they get better but I think enough people have read similar reviews and that is contributing to it now sitting on the shelves.

Dogfish expanded their brewery so many of the beers that were hard to find (120, WWS, etc.) will be more readily available now.

I have a bottle that was given to me as a present months ago. I've had it on draft and it's not something I would seek out. I'm waiting to open it until my son will share it with me. Perhaps it sits on shelves because it's tough to drink more than 1 at a sitting and it aint' cheap.

That's just silly. Just because you personally don't like it doesn't mean it's not good. An 87 score out of 1700 reviews indicates people generally like it. I personally love it.

Yea. Personal preference. People don't all agree with me. I think I heard that once on the internet.

FYI 745 of 1287 Imperial IPAs are better than it. It is in the 42nd percentile. You and many others do like it, but don't tell me an 87 on this site means that people generally like it or that it must be a good beer.

I was wondering the same thing. At the beer-seller I frequent, the manager had individual bottles of the stuff at the cash-register counter.

You really can't compare 120 to other Imperial IPA's. Whether you like it or not, it's a whole different beer than your typical (or even the best) DIPA's.

Well if you call it an American Barleywine, which is what I would rather call it anyway, 320 of 560 American Berleywines are better. That also puts it in the 42nd percentile. Just pointing out that on this site you have to look into ratings a bit. The raw score out of 5 and the adjusted score out of 100 are not great indicators of quality.

Last fall was the first batch post "Brewmasters" and it was a smaller than normal. I can't remember how long it had been since the previous batch, but it was over a year IIRC. You used to see 120 on shelves all over around Philadelphia before that gap in production. Then there was the TV show thing, so that first batch came and went quickly. It's been made at least one since then and has went back to "easy to find" status 'round these parts.
