soudnds good to me, especially if the price goes down (and the volume available goes up!). what a great beer, and 12 ozers hurt so much less to open/send as extras! keep the train rolling inbev, if i can buy a case each of BCBCS, BCBS, and BCBBW, i will!

I heard they used a Metropolis coffee for one of the draft only versions. Red Line Espresso?

Really excited to hear this news about BCBCS in 4pks! I think this is a great move by GI to put high ABV beers into small format bottles. More breweries should do this instead of the large format bottles of high ABV beers. A move in the right direction for craft beer!!!

That's what I was told by a server at Standard Market in Westmont, and they usually know their stuff. I still haven't had any confirmation about it, but it doesn't surprise me with all the different coffee variations they've done this year.

Surely this is part of an evil InBev scheme.

I've already decided to just get a sixer of black butte porter instead.

    Huh?

The official word from GI is that they've always used Intelligentsia, since it's right down the street from them. Seriously, you can throw stones from in front of GI and hit the Intelligentsia building. Maybe they did some blends with Metropolis stuff way back to test it out; who knows. But, pretty sure Standard Market, despite being pretty awesome, isn't that great an authority on GI stuff.

The only online reference I can find to a "red line" version of BCBCS is from a post on BA... by you. No one else seems to have had this particular variation, and I don't recall it showing up at any GI events where they've featured side-by-side.

Also, what variants they've done this year? They've had drafts of a few test batches that they broke out for various events. Does anyone know when they blend the coffee and BCBS: before, after, or during the aging process? If it's after it comes out of the barrels, those kegs are likely the result of some test process with different coffees before settling on the final product.

As someone who works for a direct competitor, I can tell you in full confidence that Standard Market are a bunch of fcking idiots.

And they never get rare releases, so don't even look for them there.

Just telling you what I heard broski. I had BCBCS on draft there and asked what coffee they used and I was told Red Line Espresso. Seems like a funny thing for them to make up.

That's their espresso line, but I know the roasters at Metropolis pretty well. I'm sure I would have heard about it if this were the case.
