Yeah, as with any competition, there's always head-scratchers. But the breweries enter the beers in the categories they want, so...

Interesting. I would have thought beer judges would be able to easily identify beers that don't fit the style description and mark them down accordingly.

Mostly due to this fact, I weigh no merits on the results... Odell IPA entered in an off category I noticed as well.

Stone Pale Ale fits the ESB category just fine. It's fermented with English yeast. The IBU, gravity, color and malt bill are within spec. The only thing that makes it a little untraditional is the use of American hops. They use Ahtanum hops for flavor and aroma.

Is there a list of beers that were entered in the competition?

I'd imagine a lot of breweries don't bother entering, especially if their beer is highly rated by tickers and selling well.

Shout out to Moylan's of Novato and Marin Brewing Co!

I see a bunch of the same breweries popping up again, suggesting either they're awesome or only a handful of breweries entered. Looking at brewery location, only a few breweries East of Colorado entered. I see these awards are held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest, so I'm guessing the geograhical diversity is pretty apalling.
Also the Dortmunder category is a joke.

But congrats to Grand Teton, Big Sky, Wasatch, and Rahr.

Not to rain on anyones parade, but this seems like one of a few of beer championship type things that aren't the WBC or GABF that a lot of breweries don't bother to enter. Congrats to those that took the time and effort to enter and won.

The list of entries to competitions is not a thing that gets published.

Cheers to the Bend breweries that won medals: Deschutes, Good Life, Silver Moon, 10 Barrel, Bend Brewing, and Worthy. I realize not every brewery/beer was entered, but 6 breweries from a single town is pretty impressive.

Congrats to Black Raven doubling up in category 13D.

I like how they couldn't figure out a way to list Howe Sound being from Canada, so instead they're just "Other, United States." I would think the NORTH AMERICAN Brewers Association could handle the complexity of other North American countries besides the US, but maybe next year.
