Big Ass Money Stout was really good and they just released Big Ass Money Stout 2 the other week.

I just bought a bottle of the Big Ass Money Stout 2 yesterday but didn't try it yet. Had no idea it had any funky "adjuncts" - i just saw a 16% abv stout with high ratings here and untappd and figured I should take a flier.

A very useful list of beers never to waste money on.

I like the Toast concept. I can live without any actual crap beers.

The beard beer wasn't bad, just a nice funky sourness. No beard notes at all. I had it about two years ago, so who knows, I could be remembering wrong.

I made beer bread with this (half and half with GL Edmund Fitzgerald) and it was pretty good. The beer itself isn't all that forbidding, either.

As for the others, I'd love to get my hands on that oyster stout and Snake Venom. I'd have no qualms about trying the rest if someone else was buying.

Naw, you're remembering it correctly. They simply collected yeast that had accumulated in the guy's beer while he was working in the brewery. So no beard was harmed in the brewing of that beer.

Hmmm, then I suggest you don't want to spend money on Lambic's and Gueuzes or American Wild ales which rely on spontaneous fermentation using the yeast and bacteria (including e-coli) collected from the night breeze that cools the wort before it is put in kegs for fermentation.

In fact, you may want to give up beer entirely since grains used in brewing have an allowable amount of rat hairs, mouse dung, etc. that is non-zero.

I enjoy making chili with Killah, not really a "drinker" for me though.

Just had Fried Fried Chicken Chicken from The Veil. They threw chicken tenders from Chick-fil-A in there. Very decent and fairly dry beer. Honestly cannot taste chicken, and you're nutty if you think you can, but gotta tell ya, that aftertaste / mouthfeel does have an odd protein forward greasiness to it.

I have no problem with natural processes or the inherent inclusion of trace amounts of debris.

I draw the line at harvesting elements from the human body to be used in foodstuffs. That is unnatural, intentional and crude.

Whatever, ultimately it's just yeast. You could harvest it from a beard, a piece of fruit, or a grizzly bear's taint, once it's isolated it's all the same stuff.

A lot of the beers on this list are some variation on "we cultivated yeast in some crazy place". I do like it when breweries go to the trouble of cultivating their own microbes because it is a way to add a genuinely unique character to a beer, but what matters is what those bugs do, not where they came from.

I would try the dinosaur beer. Maybe it tastes like chicken.

At least I can get behind this article unlike so many others that are just being churned out because beer has become so popular. All of the beers they presented were weird, and it was interesting as well. I wouldn't argue a single word of it.

Sure, ultimately human sweat is just water and salt but I don't want that in my beer either. It's obvious this beard detritus was promoted for the quirky factor and not because the yeast made a better beer.

Not really a valid analogy. They didn't just shave the guy's beard and throw it in a fermenter. If you distilled yeast into pure water, then it's just water and it's fine to brew with. If you culture yeast, it's just yeast, and again it's fine to brew with.

It does seem like a gimmick though.

The meteor beer sounds interesting. Maybe I will gain super powers from drinking it.

    Enjoy
