I had their DIPA at Flying Saucer recently and I really enjoyed it. It was tasty and very drinkable. Ian, previously from Lonerider and White Street, is part of it. Ian was on the 919beer podcast back in October talking about their beers. They are doing some SMASH beers to experiment with different hops to learn about them.
I've seen their beers starting to pop up, but haven't had a chance to try anything yet. Is their brewery open to the public?
No, it is not open to the public. 1323 R&D is their small 3.5 bbl system for creating pilot batches to experiment and receive feedback. It is just the first phase of a different brewery that will open in the fall. Different name and different location. They will keep the 1323 R&D location though. They talked about it on the podcast. Ian said drinkability is a priority. https://www.1323rnd.com/
Ah. Was curious about the name. Seems like an odd decision to change from a brand/marketing standpoint, but to each their own.
Thanks for telling me it’s lone rider related and they are shooting for drinkability. It tells me what I need to know about the product.
It has nothing to do with Lonerider. Don’t knock it till you try it. They are doing quite a few IPA’s.
Not knocking anything. I am sure they will do well. I have my own preferences and I thank the poster for the information. This type of information, as opposed to “ awesome new brewery. I tried a poster an ipa. Solid!”, is truly good for understanding what a new place is trying to accomplish.
Had the El Dorado smash, wasn't that happy with it, but I've felt that way about other El Dorado hopped beers. The Mosaic on the other had was darn tasty. Vic Secret was good, but not as good as Mosaic, better the El Dorado. IMO
