Hi BA Community I am new to forums, but have followed for some time. I am doing a kitchen remodel and doing a kegerator. Ideally I would like a 15 inch wide one, but it looks like there is only one available for 3800 (Well beyond budget). Should I convert a 15 inch reg fridge or just upsize to 24 inch....or is there 15 inch models I am unaware of?
The first thing I recommend is to determine what type kegs you'll by buying and if they will fit in anything you are considering. Here's a starting point: http://learn.kegerator.com/keg-sizes/ If you convert an undercounter fridge expect two problems: It will have a hump (reduced floor space) and typically the freezer compartment extends down into the interior (reduced keg height). No where will you see true interior dimensions published, you have to take a tape measure and see what the actual dimensions are. While it's possible to convert an undercounter fridge to kegerator, this can be frustrating. You'll be expecting a little more from a kegerator (consistently steady temps, drilling holes through the top/sides) than something that just keeps juice and bottled water cold. There's a reason a good quality kegerator is expensive.
Sounds to small to be playing around with for draft beer dispensing. But if your determined I definitely wouldn't be buying this fridge online, you need to see in person to determine proper interior fit of a keg with a tap and beer line sticking off the top of it.
