It's nice to see AB lock down the malt liquor category.

nice quite a few Montana winners and huge props to Montana Brewing Co. for beating the big boys on Premium Lager... BOOM!

    Misspelled Überbrew though.

Looks to be mostly a regional event. Should pay off in improved sales for the winners. Do they publish any guidelines for how the judging is conducted, etc.?

Woo! My pals from PostModern got some medal in the Baltic Porter category! I have that shiz on tap at the growler station I run right now. It's nice to see so many local to me brewers winning, even though it's regional. Sockeye Brewing is within walking distance of my place! NICE!

I thought you mispelled NAMBLA. All joking aside, Montana is a hidden gem when it comes to brewing.

By looking at the winners list, seems that the participants were limited and a lot of the big brewers and favorites did not participate!!??

Nothing against the brewers that participated, but it seems pretty obvious that not a lot of the top dogs were part of this competition

Congrats to a bunch of Brewers who's stuff will more than likely never get tasted by the majority of us.

Since when is Deschutes Fresh Squeezed considered an English IPA?

So should I assume that essentially no brewery east of Montana entered this "North American" judging, or are the judges just saying that there are no good beers outside of the pacific northwest or the southwest; other than AB in St. Louis of course.

I was wondering if there'd be any Canadian beers in the list, and there are:
Dry Stout: Gold, All Out Stout, Bridge Brewing Company, North Vancouver, BC
English-Style Barley Wine: Gold, Woolley Bugger Barleywine, Howe Sound Brewing, Squamish, BC
Smoke-Flavored Beer: Gold, McLennan's Scotch Ale, Mission Springs Brewing Company, Mission, BC
Pumpkin Beer: Bronze, Pumpkineater, Howe Sound Brewing, Squamish, BC (side note: the Pumpkin Pecan Porter that won that category sounds delicious)

The only one of those I've tried is Pumpkineater, and they're all fairly local to me. I'll definitely make a note to look for the other three.

Welcome to how much of this site feels to a lot of us who live west of the Mississippi.

And congrats to all the Washington and Oregon breweries, who walked away with 25% of the medals.

Except AB beers no entries east of MO. Very regional event.
