yeah..very difficult to get--usually gone at Binnys in about 30 minutes. And the small stores that do get it usually charge $29 each.
Simple solution.. fly to California.. walk into any store that sells beer.. go to Firestone display with 100+ bottles and grab as many as you want.. avoid the Chicago Hoarders culture headache Or make friends with a California trader and have them ship you some..
It's been sold out everywhere I've wandered through in the Bay Area. Admittedly I haven't really been searching for it, though.
I'm in the el segundo area about 4 times a year and never have trouble finding any of the firestone walker stuff. I mean the recently released stuff, stuff from 6 months ago might be sold out but anything released in the past 2 months I have no trouble finding.
Double DBA used to be a shelf turd in Chicago, you could find it year round. Then they discontinued it and everyone suddenly had to have it. FOMO.
There's still reasonably priced FW vintage series around Chicagoland. Just today I went to my local beer shop and they had Stickee Monkee '15 and Helldorado '15 sitting there for $17.95 each.
I have to think that is the exception, not the rule. I am guessing if you posted on some Facebook Chicago beer groups where those beers were available, they would be gone within a day.
Anyone hear anything about this around Chicago? FW stuff typically doesn't take this long to show up. I'm wondering if we're not getting any Merkin this year.
Beer Temple posted that they got it on Facebook. I imagine other stores did as well, but I'm not holding my breath that I'll actually see it on any shelves. (oh well, I tried this at FW when I was visiting a friend in LA, it's easily the least impressive, overhyped beer of theirs I have tried. Coming from someone who really enjoys Parabola)
Hit EVERYWHERE in the Chicago 'burbs today it seems. (along with other good ones that shall not be named)
