Well, it's got great reviews and it's imported from Belgium. I can't imagine it would be very cheap. Complexity shouldn't factor much into cost as much as logistics and ingredient/labor costs.

The wit is usually a couple dollars cheaper than the abt. 12.

I'd check elsewhere as I can usually find abt.12 for $12 and the with for $10

This is the special Tokyo wit. Seems like a lot of money anyway you slice it.

I agree but why would a bomber of a quad the same size bottle and higher alcohol % be less money from the same company?

It just seems high to me even though its being imported.

    Yow.

I'm in Boston too and I paid twelve bucks and change.

Still, for form's sake, isn't Tokyo the home of the forty dollar cantaloupe?

Yea this was like 30 mins south of boston and they sometimes like to jack the price up of limited released stuff...that explains some of it.

Yeah, OP is getting ripped off. It's $11-12 around here. Still not cheap, but at least it's on par with a lot of other Belgian 750ml bottles.

Just bought my second 4-pack ever of St. B Wit a couple weeks ago for ~$17, about the same as I paid for the first one around a year ago. That's for 1320mL of course, just 12% shy of 2 bombers worth of beer. So yeah, you got ripped off.

You should go to Perth:slight_smile:, there you can buy 500ml Hoegaarden at a bar for $18!!!

That's a completely different beer, though.

Gotcha. As one of the reviews of the Tokyo mentioned, it's a limited release, so that would explain the markup. Or maybe it's the whopping extra .5% ABV over the regular Wit.

It's possible the cost may have been miscalculated as Tokyo comes 9 bottles to a case instead of the standard 6 or 12. Either that or the store is just jacking up the price since it's a special release. $16 is certainly way too high...I think it's around $10 and change around here.

    That's CHEAP.

I paid $10 draft here at Praying Monk and it was only a pint pour.

ugh....bars mark things up well more than stores. If this were not the case I would do more drinking at the bar.

I didn't get ripped off because I did not buy it. No witbier is worth 16 bucks. So unless I see it under 12 around me I will not be getting it.

I stick to my $10 limit for HIGH abv bombers/750's. Saves me allot of posts on BA complaining about beer prices. :grinning:

My real limit is 5 on american bombers. 10 for Belgians, which is sad because I had to pass on some Duval and La chouffe lately that I usually sprung on for my BD. I just happy DuPont is still 7.50. Orval has hit 7 bucks for 330ml and I not going to ever pay that.
