I'd vote 18th column. Just kidding. But I'd vote 18th street too. However, their To Go beer is a bit pricier than FFF. Plus I often get bottle variation (e.g., no carbonation whatsoever) from 18th street. So my qualified vote is to go to 18th street for drinks in the taproom and then drive the extra 15 minutes to get FFF bottles to go.

If you've never been to FFF then go there but if you've been there, even once, then I would say go to 18th St

No, and this is why this seems to be a joke thread. April Fools is past though.

They do have food but it's limited whereas FFF has a much larger menu. 18th Street is a pretty small location overall

There is a bit of nonsense in this thread. 18th St. has great food. Their chef won on a recent episode of "cutthroat kitchen" on Food Network. Their beer is outstanding and the staff are much friendlier than FFF. Go to 18th St. It really isn't even close unless you want to ride the hype train.

Are you coming to eat or are you coming to drink? If you want good food, keep driving to Chicago and head to some place like Alinea. If you want to drink, my rec still stands for 18th St. And then for bottles to go, FFF. They are only 15 stinkin' minutes apart after all

and it's "3 Floyds". There are, literally, three people with the last name "Floyd". Enough of this "3 Floyd's" garbage.

Thanks for the responses and the grammar correction.
I wish I had hours to spend at both but I only have time to do that at one. Based on the above going to make that 18th street.

At 18th Street, you have a much better chance of getting into the building and having a seat in under an hour.

Since no one really justified their response, here's my thought as someone who recently relocated and just did a trip last weekend to both.

3 Floyds has a lot more taps and has a lot of stuff that you probably haven't tried. They do a sampler and will do half pours of everything. Generally, they have more stuff to go - I grabbed lord rear admiral, skull'ole (not expecting it to be good, but was interested), black flame, deesko, and an IPA (can't remember what). On tap I had the sampler (which hits mostly regulars like gumballhead, robert the bruce, etc - 4 pours you don't get to choose) and had 1/2 pours of Freggo (a strawberry Belgian that was horrible - tasted like a roasted strawberry shortcake doll ... smoked plastic with a surprisingly nice strawberry aftertaste), throat snatcher (a dark lager), and ... another dark lager, a schwarz, that I can't remember the name of. The two lagers were excellent. I had a sandwich for $11 and it was tasty but small ... and was, literally, just a sandwich on a plate - no side, garnish, etc. Not really great value. I had to wait about 10 min for a seat on the weekend. Much more tourist beer vibe.

18th on the other hand has more a local vibe, more sedate, spacious. Food is good and a better deal. But they have fewer options - I think 6 taps - don't do small pours or samples, less stuff to go, and the stuff kicks pretty regularly / sells out regularly. I wanted to get cans of moon walk and they were gone when I got there. Then the keg kicked as I walked in the door. No complaints, really, since I ultimately got Sophomoric Saison (awesome), sour note farmhouse (good), and Hunter Cherry (excellent - what they replaced moon walk with).

IMHO, overall quality at 18th is better - I've yet to have a horrible beer from them and 3 Floyds seems to give me a horrible beer about 20% of the time - and it's more mellow. But if you're looking to sample a bunch of different beers I'd still pick 3 Floyds if you can only make one stop; just more variety and option to go with smaller serving sizes.

And you're contributing to this nonsense. The person who was on "Cutthroat kitchen" was just a friend of Drew's who stopped in at 18th St for a little taco Monday takeover. Not their chef.

OP, if you've never been go to FFF.

Go to 18th street, 3 Floyds isn't worth the wait.

Go to both. I've never had bad service at Floyds, in my thirty plus trips. 18th Street has a great up and coming vibe. The beers have arrived but the notoriety is still on its way.

I would say check tap lists and decide on that. Or just go to both. They are only like 20 minutes away from each other.
