figured I'd create a new thread for this year's event. Tweet/ info below:

Doesn't appear to be piggy-backing off of the DLD hype and moving this to the following month. Interesting move.

Hopefully ticket prices are a little more reasonable this year (I know that's totally subjective, just wasn't worth it for me last year). June should make for some pleasant patio weather.

Wonder if the ticket price includes two lanyards this year...

I loved Bitch B Crazy the first year, then the BA bitches bank was a down grade. Hoping they come up with a good event that's not overpriced.

I'm just going to buy all the bottles the next week at the pub...Isn't that how it went down last year?

Looks like they have released some of the value add ons to this years tickets:

    Unlimited use of the bathrooms
All the air you can breath
    Free line waits

All previously posted goodness aside I haven't been to an 18th Street Barrel Massacre, yet. I looked at the pricing from last year and it seems a bit high for me. Yes, I did drop $180 on DLD but that includes 4 bombers of Dark Lord and a variant (group A). Last years Massacre was $70 and you got a lanyard, some BA pours and the privilege of being able to buy beer to take home. The beer doesn't appear to be cheap either. My question is this, is it worth it? Is the beer worth the price (including admission)?
*I understand "worth it" is subjective. I ask it generally speaking.

My two cents if the price is still the same:

If you've never been to the brewery, the place is really cool. The food is exceptional, and the beer is always a highlight. Paying to go and experience an event there for the first time would be worth it in my opinion.

On the other hand, if you don't go, they almost always have leftover bottles from the massacre that get sold to the public. If you're only going for the BA offerings and don't care much for the event, I'd say hold off. They always have BA taps after the event as well for the offerings that didn't have their kegs kick. In my past experiences, 3-4 variants of BA Hunter have been on tap the following week after the massacre - plus BA Bitches' Bank was available in bottles after as well.

I'm probably going to skip the event this year, then pay them a visit a few days after to try and score some more BA Hunter Vanilla on tap again. It's life-changing!

If I remember right Cognac Bitches Bank wasn't available after but the others were.

Charge reasonable flat fee for admission, say $20.

Anything you want once you walk through the door (including lanyards) costs extra. Customers only pay for what they want within allotments.

I realize that I do not run a brewery or have a business degree, but that's the way I'd do it.

Hell, make it $50 and include a bottle and a pour and you still have a decent deal while making money on the entry fee.

With 18th Street no longer being the hot "it" brewery, and settling into its spot spot in the market, I'm curious how the demand will be for it this year.

I'm sure it will be a good time, but gone are the days of people lining up at the wee hours for Bitches Bank.

I'm curious as well. As great as Bitches Bank and Imperial Blud are, if I drove there after seeing it available at the brewery and there was a line, I wouldn't wait. I'd wait for any of the BA Hunter variants though, they always seem to knock those out of the park!

For some reason this intrigues me, even though the 2 or 3 BA beers I've had by them didn't really do much for me. I'd like to try them on draft without paying entry to a fest and having to pay for extras..even if it is a badass lanyard.

I am still a little bit bitter from $40 for Cognac Bitches Bank... yes I paid it. But on top of the entry fee being pricey, not cool. Enjoyed the event but probably going to skip.

I think 18th needs to poach someone with barrel program experience. It sounds like it hasn't been ready for primetime. I wasn't a fan of the Fobab offering and haven't had the (mis?)fortune of trying his BA stuff. His regular stuff is top notch, but I think he got out of Pipeworks well before they figured out barrel aging so there seems to be a skills gap. Trial and error is effective though time consuming so much easier to bring someone in with the skills.
