Personally speaking I've only had two of their beers, both barrel aged, and one was infected. The non-infected one was pretty tasty.

4 of 5 BA Hunters I had were excellent.

The problem is it's not a reasonably priced event. Most people don't want what the $50 gets you. I have enough tote bags, glasses and don't care about the crappy metal (probable) band they have. Throw all that out and I'm paying $7 a sample. To buy an additional $100 of beer. You're offering extras people don't want to raise the price. It's economic theory, but they way over priced demand. And I LOVE BA Bitches Bank.

Personally, I'm not big on pay-to-play. During KBS release I attended a founder's sponsored event (not there, out of town). It cost $20, were given 2 bottles of KBS, sampled 4 beers, drank half a bottle of KBS (a 5th "sample"), given a glass and decals (swag), and given the ability to purchase additional KBS. Since most KBS I found was either $5-6/12 oz, I felt like I really got my moneys worth.

But, for something like this, not so. To Drink 7 beers between noon and 4pm sounds a bit awful - and not all of them would I even want to drink.

If this event was $20 for 7 3oz samples, 1 glass, and the ability to purchase those 5 bottles...I'd be a lot more excited.

-Oh, and I don't give 2 shits about live music since there's a 90% chance I won't enjoy it or be able to hear it given the circumstances anyway. The only thing I really care about is the beer.

I will agree. The paying for the right to buy beer thing has gotten out of control. Unless you are a world class brewery (like fff), you really can't/shouldn't do it. The number of people it turns off is likely greater than gate receipts.

$7 a 5oz pour is extremely reasonable and on par with other barrel aged beer prices in Chicago/surrounding areas. You actually get more with this than you do DLD tickets two years ago when they were $50 bucks and included nothing....

That bottle share in line to get in to DLD is worth more than $50....at least it was for me.

Find 10 more people who feel the same and I'll let you guys line-up on my lawn and share your beer for $50 a piece.

If you are referring to 2015, DLD tickets were $40 ($30 GA).

An line bottle share at 18th street in front of the Hammond Police Department would be ... epic?

If every comment in this thread equaled a ticket sold...they'd still only be one-third sold out!

I thought somebody resurrected the thread because it actually sold out. ... If the mystery stout is revealed to be something interesting and tickets are still available, I may yet buy.

Is the mystery stout a BA Bitches Bank and Dark Lord blend? If FFF hasn't gotten their investment out of 18th yet, I'm sure they want to insure that they do.

I would have guessed that if this mystery offering was that interesting it would probably have been listed originally. You know to create some hype and further some interest.

But I could be wrong as well.

223-233 sold depending on how you read it.

I understand (and was part of) the hate the event got last year, but $50 for four hours to drink 35oz of beer plus hunter direct from the barrel? They addressed the price and time restriction complaints and there's still hesitation...

Any hate now just feels like piling on/leftover bitterness from last year or BA Hunter sales.

I did not participate (or know about) the event last year. I don't like this format. The event to me means paying $50, force myself to drink 7 beers in 4 hours in the middle of the day, spend $110ish on bottles, and find a ride home at 4 in the afternoon.

    1. Pay to play sucks.
    2. I don't particularly like getting plastered at 4pm because I have to or I lose my money.

These two combined makes me not enjoy the event as much as I could if structured differently and at different price points. Just my 2cents. I think this came off more aggressive than I wanted - just being direct. No ill will intended. I don't really have a dog in the show.

I still think it comes down to the beer not being good.

Honestly, I Loved their beer when they were strictly in Gary. I thought they were worth every bit of the hype. Since Hammond opened, I've noticed a higher price tag for their beer and a lot less of a wow factor as well.
