    Hey dudes!

I'm trying to gather more information on this upcoming release from someone who has attended an event at the brewery before.

Is this a crazy early lineup release like most events have turned into these days, or can you casually show up to get your allotment and enjoy some tasty drafts?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is usually a line formed well before they open....and I imagine the bottles will sell out fairly quickly. If you show up casually sometime during the day I would assume you don't get Coconut Hunter....but you would get some solid things on tap.

Yeah, the complimentary coffee and donuts comment on their website was a dead giveaway lol

    Thanks for the heads up!

Having gone to a few of their Saturday releases in the past, it seemed like if you got there by noon, you generally got your allotment.

How's the line so far? Was the first asshole in line 4 hours early again?

It's around the block. Getting worse each release, as is the sense of entitlement. Line cutter a few in front of me shows up to meet his buds as the bands are being handed out. Nothing but class at releases these days!

Minimal line outside now, decent amount of bottles appear to be left. If you're in the vicinity, hit it. Pretty tasty beer, might be my favorite so far.

I got there about an hour and a half early and it was already a pretty long line. Once they opened it moved pretty quickly. Only downfall is that was the only beer being sold for carry out that day. I was hoping to buy a few different bottles but I guess I will have to make my way out there another time to shop.

I guess I just don't see the big deal on joining your friends in line when you know everyone is guaranteed an allotment. 2140 bottles at 4 per person is enough for 535 people, which there were not anywhere near. Maybe half that. The alternative is that you go sit in line by yourself for x amount of time to get the same beer, just by yourself. To be clear, this was not me, and no one cut in my group, but when you know everyone is good, it just doesn't bother me.

Also, there were so many bottles that once the line was through they cut the limit entirely. A friend was told was told "you can buy 100 bottles if you want."

Also, Orange Hunter. God damn that was good.

Please forgive me, my crystal ball wasn't working at the time giving me the hard numbers, that only became known later in the day. Today might have been a good day where it didn't affect anyone, for that I'm glad. I've been to plenty other releases where it has. I'm not naive to the attitudes that are prevalent not only in the beer scene, but society as well. Cheers to getting what you want at any cost.

Yes, we know you endorse line cutting and have participated in the practice. Both for this release and for black friday your key rationale seems to be that no one lost out on an allotment due to the cutting. Both then and now (as @Prager62 mentioned for the Hunter - the bottle count was hindsight) this was not known at the time of the line cutting. This is a critical piece of information which you seem to gloss over in trying to excuse line cutting. And heaven forbid if someone has to stand in line by themselves for an amount of time. There was plenty of time for the buds to yuck it up inside the taproom after getting their bottles. Line cutting is a clear lack of class and respect in all circumstances. There is no legitimate excuse for it.

If it's not that big of a deal and everyone is guaranteed their allotment, can't your friends just join you at the back of the line rather than cutting the people who have been waiting?

Very tasty beer and the event went fairly smooth. It's always nice to see certain assholes think the line doesn't apply to them and try to sneak in and buy bottles.

The two bartenders were absolutely slammed behind the bar yesterday. Kudos to them for keeping their cool and the beer flowing.

I dunno about everyone, but I went in around 10:30 to use the restroom and asked the guys with the bottles. Also if you looked in the window, you would have seen all the boxes and could have gotten a good estimate. The cost was the same to literally every person, regardless of where you were in line or when you showed up.

This is all hypothetical since no one I know was involved in any cutting. We actually did let a group of about 5 people pass us to join another group in line behind us. I'm just saying, being as though it was very easy to get the bottle count any time after 10am, there was nothing to complain about.

I know you guys on your high horses like to complain about the morality of the thing, even when the action hurt no one (as was the case on BF and for whoever "cut" at 18th), but I see it much more as a "no harm, no foul" type of situation.

Of course I abhor any kind of cheating to obtain something at someone else's expense, but that was not the case here. If it in fact bothered anyone, why would they not step in and say something about it at the time, when they think it may be effecting them?

Christ, the degree of post hoc rationalizing here . . . through the roof. I may have an advanced degree, but this is not that difficult. I went to NG for the Wild Peach event in August. I was number 69 in line, well within the window for bottles. As I approached the line, I saw two guys I knew, further up. I went to the end of the line with a chair. I put the chair down, made sure the guys in front knew what I looked like, then moved up to hang out with the friends. When the time came for tickets, I went back to the chair.

But, Dave, you ask, what if there are no chairs? Well, wait at the end, introduce yourself to the guys (or gals) in front and in back, saying, 'listen, this is my spot, but I am going to go up for a bit to talk to friends.' That way, when you return later in line, if someone calls you out, there is backup to defend your story.

Ok, so if there was no harm here (or for me in August). But what if it is a close call? "Why would they not step in and say something about it at the time"? Um, basic psychology? Most people are nonconfrontational. Although the majority of cutters will weakly stand down, with shame and egg on the face, there's always the chance someone will punch you in the face. Many folks are not going to put themselves in situations where that's a possibility.

Tl;dr: all parasites prey on the vulnerabilities of the weak - more importantly, though, they depend on the implied consent of the ambivalent, the folks pulling the "eh, who gives a shit" card.

As an aside, if you missed out on a bottle yesterday, what would have been the problem? I assume you continue to maintain a very healthy cellar (I went to a share you attended, where you were very generous, so I know you're not a remorseless, cold-blooded whale hunter), so acquiring one by trade would not be too difficult, right? Yeah, I know, the drive to Gary in January would yield nothing to take home, but still... <end rant> <end thread>

I think that if anyone punched someone in the face in such a circumstance, they'd have a line of people to stand up for them immediately. But I do understand the instinct to remain non-confrontational.
As for extras, I only bought 2 for myself and a few for friends that couldnt make it and already paid me. Didn't buy any for trade. I know there is plenty out there though as once the limit was lifted the last couple hundred bottles went very fast.

Mind if I ask a straight forward question? Did you or your friends cut the line?
