A 6.4oz, 1994 Rogue Old Crustacean fell into my lap recently. I was wondering if it's way past it's prime or worth trying. Not sure of storage before I acquired it for free.

Why would you not try it?

Had a '99 less than a year ago...my opinion was it was well last it's prime. Kinda of soy saucey if I remember right.

There has never been and will never be any scenario where you shouldn't try the beer before deciding if it's worth drinking.

I think I remember Dr. Bill putting up a pic of a 1993 bottle on instagram not too long ago. He described it as "decadent" though who really knows?

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Its not brewed to be aged in the bottle.

I have a 99 as well I really want to get into it but the comment towards the top has got me all worried now.

Barleywines are generally the last thing I want to open because I know they are only going to get better.

Meh. I say put my address on it and toss it into the nearest mailbox-shaped trash can.

wow, that's a old one. I'd try it and let us know. That seems to me way passed it's prime but I've only had a few years on this brew so what do I know.

The answer to your predicament is likely both. Pour it but let it breathe for about 20 minutes before tasting.
