I haven’t seen HotW mentioned here yet. If you’ve never been I highly recommend for a one of a kind Waterbury/VT food experience. Yes there is another outlet in Burlington but the atmosphere there can’t hold a candle to the old mill building by the waterfall in Waterbury. Get a reservation before you plan your trip. Local/VT cheeses; a super creative farm to table menu and HT on tap create a near perfect culinary experience. Also - if you haven’t stayed at the Old Stagecoach Inn in Waterbury — I also recommend. Can’t be the location and the free breakfast is easily worth $25...plus you can get a HT or FB w/breakfast.....as I’ve seen many people do....Cheers

So we at at Hen of the woods, high quality food, just keep that in mind when you see the portions, very creative with their food menu.

We stayed at the old stage coach inn, cool spot with plenty of history. We met some other guys doing the same thing we planned except they drove. If I had the time I would drive, even though it is 20 hours, it was the worst checked luggage experience for me. I'll detail below later.

We landed about 10am and after picking up rental car in Burlington we went to beverage warehouse, picked up several local only brews and took suggestions from guys that worked there. Frost beer works, hermit thrush, 14th star B72, Lawson's, case of heady topper (went ahead to seal the deal). Then headed to foam brewing which was a cool spot, tasted a few and had one brew. Tried to go to two other spots in town to eat and have a brew but the parking was very limited (it is a city) so we headed to Burlington beer company, great food and the prices were very reasonable. We each got a flight of 4 brews, ended up getting some canned creatures of magic to go. Stopped at walmart to get some water and luggage scale as it got left behind. Alchemist (my priority) was the next stop. Arrived and only a few people there, tested heady topper, focal banger, and holy cow. My taste buds could finally relax after the first long over due rush of heady topper wetting them! Hung around and talked to the two counter ladies about the brewery. Purchased several different brews and went to check weight. Picked up too many cans and had to return a few as I would not have any luggage room for Hill Farmstead, yikes!
Alchemist was totally cool about this!

I've both ate at HotW and stayed at Old Stagecoach. I was actually planning on staying there for my trip hahaha.

We ended up back at the old stagecoach inn and met some other guys doing the same thing we planned. Shared a few beers and stories, then headed to Reservoir to sample a few brews, they had some Hill Farmstead on tap. Then headed to Hen of the woods for a great dinner.
Up early day 2, great breakfast at the old stagecoach (note it starts at 730am, not on website that I could find) and you had plenty to choose from. We left for Hill Farmstead, arrived at 1215pm, there were about 25 cars there already. Did some tastings, got some growlers to go, waited in line at the bottles/cans to go, packed up suitcases, left about 245pm.
    Now the not so fun
American airlines got my bags to connection, but not final destination. My AA app was telling me checked bags were in baggage claim, told them, but was told not enough time to get them on the flight. I was on last flight from PHL to ATL and they were sent out in the next a.m. (I'm really upset as I'm thinking my beer is gonna get hot). AA called next day and said courier was picking them up at 11a.m., however I didn't get them until 1am the next day! Plus 7 cans were destroyed/leaking.
I was ticked off at AA. Never had a broken bottle or can before...
I'll be interested what they come back with.
