I wnat to make a wicked session beers mixed pack to take to a 4th of jully party this weekend and impress my friend for what beers can be made in Ohio. My 2 part question is this. What would be a really good mixed pack to impress my friend from out of state? And would some people like to crituque the pack Im thinkin of making... Heres what Im thinkin... white Rahja x2 Columbus ipa head hunter dark apperition lake Erie monster What store in Cbus area should i go to find these all at once to make it easer...
As far as I know, Head Hunter hasn't made it down to Columbus in bottles yet but can be found in the Cleveland area. And Dark Apparition is only bottled by Jackie O's occasionally, and unless I'm wrong can only be picked up at the brewpub either on-tap or during a bottle release. The other 3 should be pretty easy to find in bottles in Columbus.
If "session" is your aim then I think you have missed your goal. You could be soused after a few of these beers in your list. Look for items that are lower alcohol or your "session" will be over early. Does any Ohio brewery make any low-alcohol beers that might be similar to Founders All Day IPA?
Replace Dark Apparition(not currently bottled and does not get distribution) with Hoppin Frog BORIS and your 6 pk looks pretty good... although I'm partial to Head Hunter and would give him a whole 4 pk. ;-)
White Rajah, Headhunter, BORIS would make any out of State BA feel happy, Jackie O's has to be experienced in person...hell Laker Erie Monster is so boozed up give me a Wright Pils from Great Lakes anyday. Columbus IPA needs to come into my neck of the woods in Ohio, I'm about to call the brewery directly and ask what the deal is.
im trying to show him how different and flavorful beer's can be that are made in ohio. Thats part of the reason i was thinking about tossing in a lake erie but i think the write pils would be a beer that he would really take a liking too really quickly... It looks like im going to have to bring more than just 6 beer's haha
