First, is the "single batch" and the "BA" the same thing? From looking it seems there is only one. Just want to make sire before I try to find some.

Second, what kind of stuff is it trading for? Seen some ISOs but not sure what has gone down.

Yes. They're the same beer. It says in very small lettering at the bottom of the label: Ale Aged In Bourbon Barrels

As for the latter part of your question, I can't really say. I've given quite a few out as extras, but haven't specifically traded any bottles. When it was more widely available, it typically ran $8-$11 depending on where you picked it up.

There was a non-BA barleywine that was tap only, but I believe the entry on this site is for the BA version.

I don't really watch the ISO/FT board, but I can tell you that there's another batch that will be released next year, probably later in the year. Here's Kai from Sebago talking about it (bottom of the thread): http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/sebago-brewing-single-batch-barleywine.33296/

(Edit: I guess I can't confirm that it's Kai posting, but sure seems like it based on the name)

"Single Batch" is Sebago's name for its limited release series. Kind of like the Smuttynose "Big Beer" or Harpoon "100 Barrel".

It never traded a lot, because it wasn't a well-known name. It's right up there though with other excellent BA barleywines. I gave out a few as extras. It may not be easy to trade for at this point, only because it's been out for over a year...

I found three of these at a shop in Connecticut this summer and bought them out. In my opinion this is the best barleywine this side of King Henry (though I haven't had MOAS yet).

When I ran out, I traded a DL '12, an Event Horizon and a Raspberry Tart for a few more. It seems like there aren't a ton of people in possession so it doesn't move too much, but if you can find somebody willing to trade them, the cost wont be that high.

With that said, I'm holding onto mine because they're just straight up more delicious than anything I'd be trading them for.

Great beer. No batch for this year, but there's one in barrels right now for next year. Base beer came up on tap recently, I think, but no bottles. Find someone in Maine who knows about the beer, and it shouldn't be too difficult to trade for, depending on how big the next batch is. Limited releases/brewery releases should get it done.

Sebago's brewmaster, Tom Abercrombie, is pretty responsive to emails ([email protected]).

Some cases of the 2011 batch materialized this summer in CT. I bought damn near a case over a few weeks time. Excellent beer that I would say trades for any other limited shelf beer.

Loved this beer. Received one as an extra and traded promptly for four more. Really hope it is being re-released as I will be getting my hands on more!

as people have said, it's an under the radar beer. i sent out several as extras, and got back rave reviews from trading partners. myself, i killed almost a case of it. couldn't believe the quality to price ratio.

if there's any still around (wasn't there another release? was it as good? EDIT: oh i see, that was more 2011. soooo good) i would guess it wouldn't be tough to trade for at all. maybe not "shelf locals / regional regulars," but i'd guess as soon as you go up 1 notch of difficulty-to-obtain, someone would be down to trade. shelf-locals probably works too, but just might take longer.
