One of my favorite festivals. Lots of new breweries coming this year. Should be a good one. Wonder if/will OHB can duplicate last years festival lineup of barrel aged beers. http://www.hickoryhops.com/brewers.html
This will be my first year attending. What did OHB have last year? Looks like a pretty solild lineup already. Hopefully the weather works out a little better than at Brewvival
Always a fantastic festival and a great time. We are thrilled to be attending once again this year, and to see many of our Charlotte brethren joining us!
So pumped for Hickory Hops! More breweries this year, including a lot I've never heard of. Definitely go if you're able - such a fun and friendly beer event.
I had a post regarding this weeks ago asking about hotels. Crickets...... Do you all have my recommendations?
I think that is where we are going to stay. Does Olde Hickory do anything special at the brewpub that day or the night before?
The night before is the North Carolina Brewers Cup awards banquet... Good luck getting into OHB the day off, the place is packed tight. You're better off heading over to Amos Howards.
We always stay at the Quality Inn by the Hickory Crawdad's stadium. Most of the brewers seem to stay there as well so getting a room could be tough.
if you want some kick ass food: hatch sandwich bar has killer sandwiches at affordable prices. get the chicken salad sub. good dudes run that place: colin and zack. 268 1st Ave, right around the block from the festival.
-Agreed. I order the bahn mi every time. I can't stop myself. Other food options within walking distance for folks not familiar with the area would be: -The Tap Room. It will be swamped, for sure. -The yet un-named restaurant OHB is opening in the old Hickory Station building which adjoins the festival area. I think 49 taps plus 2 beer engines. The final touches are happening as we speak! It will hopefully be opened by then. *fingers crossed* -Hong Kong... mediocre chinese food if you are into that. -The Crescent Moon. 30 taps, sandwiches and more. The flat breads are great. Good sides too. -McGuire's Hickory's irish* pub. Great burgers and fries joint, but chances are there will only be 1 or 2 people working so be prepared to wait. *they don't have guiness on draft, so I don't think it really qualifies. -Josh's. If you want to drop some coin on some casual dining, this place has really good food.
