I found a bottle at a local shop, through some research, I was told because of the copper cap and it saying 'vim and vigor' that this is a 2001 bottle. What flavors should I expect from a 15 year old beer? Has anyone had one/ is it still even good?

    Thanks

Wow! I've never had one that old. I guessing you're confident it was aged correctly if you were willing to purchase? How much did this bad boy cost, if you don't mind me asking?

It'll still be a touch hot, a bit oxidized, and pretty roasty. Drink it.

Did it still have the original price tag?

I have no way of knowing if they stored it properly. Under the cap was a little rusted and I think it may have suffered from oxidation/being stored improperly as it was almost completely flat. No alcohol burn like a new bottle. Tasted almost like a port, lots of molasses and chocolate. The bottle was $14.99

I would have bought it. That's a fun one. I've had a 7 y/o bottle that I really enjoyed despite not liking it fresh very much at all. Good find!

Your tasting notes mirror what it is supposed to taste like. It has minimal carbonation. I just opened a 2013 bottle that was practically "flat" when poured. It was fantastic. I've also had an '08 bottle. "port" beer is how I would describe it. That price isn't bad considering how old it is. I'd pay that. New, they're around $10-12.
