I've been cellaring a bunch of stuff over the past five years and just opened a 2007 Pannepot. Soy sauce bomb of epic proportions! There is some good malt flavor and black cherry notes underneath, but man, this isn't drinkable. Has a slight tartness, too-- infection?

Anyone else have similar experiences with this beer? Cheers

The last 2007 I opened was like you described, nasty. The 07 Reserva however is a show stopper.

I had 2008, 2009, and 2010 Reserva on draft recently. All were perfect. Maybe 2007 was a bad year.

Had a Pannepot Reserva 2005 recently that everyone at the tasting thought was great

I very recently had an '05 Grand Reserva, '07 Reserva, & '09 Pannepot. They were all drinking fantastically, but the '07 Reserva was slightly oxidized, but marvelous. The '05 showed some carbonation '07 didn't show much oxidation and the '09 showed none.

There has definitely been reports of infected 2007 Pannepot....check this thread from a couple months ago:

I remember buying like six bottles of this vintage from Oak Tree in NJ several years ago and every single one of them was infected. The bottles would literally empty themselves upon opening.

There is a place in this region that has over a case of it left. It is priced high and is infected.

A buddy also just opened one this weekend. It exploded everywhere.

Yikes, think I have a couple '07s left stashed away in the back of a box. Will get the safety glasses out and report back.

Just had an '09 Reserva and I'd have to say that it was slightly off its prime (but still excellent). I'd drink up pretty soon.

A local shop had 08 and 09 Reserva on the shelf next the 10 so I picked up one of each to see which I should stock up on... the answer was 10.

08 was noticeably downhill, 09 was fine but hadn't improved.

We recently did a 2004, 2007 and 2010 vertical of the Pannepot. 2007 was for me the winner. Great beers!

I have had the 07 few times...pretty sure its the infected one (blew up everywhere when i opened it) I honestly didn't mind the slight tartness but hey thats just me.

A bunch of 07's in the cooler at my local shop. Almost bought one today. Glad I didn't.

In response to this thread I descided to crack my last 07. Much to my surprise, it was perfect! Guess not all the 07's are infected.
