I just came across several bottles of 2008 BCBS that my dad had left in his closet and forgotten. He lives by the beach in CA where the temps usually stay around 60 degrees year round. I just put them into my chest freezer cellar at 55 degrees... I plan on trying one soon, but was wondering if anyone had any idea of whether or not these might still be good.

You will be able to trade these for pretty much anything you want, probably.

There have been reports of some serious bottle variation. Because this was the last year of twist off caps, some are oxidized, some are fantastic, some are in between. We popped one as part of a vertical in January & it was still great; but that was a bottle that hadn't moved (almost literally) since I bought it. I'd hope that since yours have been stable, too, that they'll be in good shape. Good luck!

Are you asking this question on behalf of your father or did you steal these from him?

I'll take one as well. The more the reviews on the findings the better

It will most definitely be good still. I had one this year, and while I can't say much about how it will actually taste, it definitely holds up for years. Gotta say I was pretty burnt out on the taste of BC and variants by time I got to this one, but I would have noticed if it had fallen off considerably.

I think the 2008 vintage was the best. I still have a few but they were all waxed after purchase and cellared properly. It would be interesting to try a properly cellared and waxed version vs a closet aged unwaxed version. Where in CA are you? I'm in HB.

Last 08's I tried were heavily oxidized. Which some people enjoy the flavor of and some don't
