Sipping on 08 BCBS as the title implies, and it is still hotter than hell -- the bourbon is amazingly strong in this. I thought a few years would cool it down... I kind of want to complain, but I'm a huge bourbon fan as well, so I'm going to be ok with this. Any other experiences like this with cellared beers?

I have had 08 BCS at least a dozen times and it is easily my favorite vintage of BCS. I wish i had cases of it.

Oh it's fantastic -- Goose Island is the granddaddy of them all when it comes to the barrel aged stuff. I just thought it might cool down a touch, but it's still full of fire.

I had a 2008 two weeks ago and I couldn't have found it more mellow and velvety smooth. Its the best vintage of BCS and its drinking so well right now. The flavor profile on the 08 is absolutely phenomenal. When you guys say its hot, I couldn't disagree less.

Odd you should mention it. I was at a great shop in the Twin Cities last month that puts cellared goodies out on the shelves every now and then. I try to go there whenever I'm back in the MN/WI (I live in Boston). They had both 2008 BCBS and 2008 Matilda out for sale. I nearly crapped myself. Since I was going to my sisters wedding, I bought one of each and drank them at the wedding festivities. The Matilda was my toast beer and the BCBS was drank around the camp fire later at night.

Both were excellent. You are right in saying that the bourbon was surprisingly hot and very dominant. It kind of bucked the trend of what most barrel aged stouts do with age. A few other beer geeks at the wedding thought it was among the best beers they've tried and I'm inclined to agree with them.

Some like it hot, and some sweat when the heat is on.

Just picked up a 2008 BCBS and a 2008 Matilda last night at a special tasting. Will have the Matilda tomorrow and the BCBS in a couple months. Very excited.

My buddies and I did an '08-'11 BCBS blind tasting. Really funny because the '11 won across the board with '08 ranking number 2. '09 and '10 were a "who cares" wash. Very interesting. '08 is divine! '11 is the reigning king, though.

Best '80's reference ever on this site!

Love me some '08 BCBS. I think '10 was hot on its trail when it was released, but '11 keeps me wondering if it's the best vintage yet. Oh Bourbon County, how I love thee.

    Bottle variation. It's severe.

Sounds somewhat similar to a vert. I recently drank. We did '06-'11. We all found either the '08 or '11 to be the best, while the '06 and '07 were slightly over the hill (but still great). It was a toss-up between the '09/'10.

A local bar tapped a keg of 08 recently and I was also really surprised (and delighted) how much bourbon was still sticking around. Definitely my favorite vintage of my favorite beer.

Opened one a month ago. It was spectacular. Just got a bottle for $12 at a cellar sale last night. Hopes remain high.

05 is drinking awesome now too, was surprised by it. Had the 03 a few months back, not good and lots of soy sauce flavor.
