I've acquired 2 bottle of Bottlworks X (2009 Matt). Does anyone have any idea what these typically trade for? I've done a lot of searching and the values seem to be all over the place. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Pretty much as much as you can get for them. Whatever the highest trade value is, you take that and add at least 0.5-1.5 KHU since the bottle has obviously gotten older and more valuable since that time.

KHU? Well I know this.. but basically I don't know if trading both Matt's plus a bottle of Kentucky Dark Star is equal to an offer I received for a Neilsbhorium and Black Tuesday. I just rarely see Matt (2009) traded so it's hard to decide.

There have been some reports of issues with the original Matt (Bottleworks X) that have hurt its trading value.

The beer sucks (origanl matt, X, the one you have, 2 of!). Isn't worth much.

How did you acquire these two bottles of Matt?

In celebration of HotD's 20th Birthday (last Saturday), Bottleworks put out several different vintages of HotD brews they had been cellaring. I believe there were around 5-8 Matt's up for grabs, 1 per person, first come first serve.

I had two bottles of Matt stolen from me 3 years ago, I was hoping these were the long lost bottles, haha.

Bottleworks recently sold 2010 Matt for $25 a bottle ... so I'm guessing these were $30 at least (if the OP doesn't want to divulge).

    I don't mind divulging. $29.95 + tax. Good guess!

That's actually not too bad considering that they were selling Matt 2013 recently for, what, $23?

You've had it? box_social above you says "it's fucking great" ... I don't know which one of you to believe. [IMG]

edit: and I don't really see why what is basically a barleywine would go bad in 4 years.. maybe you had one that wasn't properly cellared?

I believe the negative posts were sarcasm - i.e. "it tastes like garbage ... so why don't you trade it to me?"

i'll say this... if you want to drink it, do it because the beer is great. if you want to trade it for walez, don't bother cause it won't happen.

I'm going to do what I always do, drink one and trade the other. I won't demand whalez though, just something of the same ilk, price wise and quality. We'll see. Thanks for the feedback guys!!
