So I was with a few BAs yesterday and one of them picked up a very subtle sourness and then we all did after he mentioned it. This was when we had barely started drinking it so I don't know if we would've noticed without him saying it. Anyways, this left me wondering if any of you that have opened one recently have noticed it? Also, this was very odd to me because I thought they bought a flash pasteurizer after the 09 debacle and I thought the beer couldn't be infected if it all got ran through it.

Anyone have any insight? I have quite a few of them so I was thinking about opening another one soon and if I pick up the same, sticking the rest in the fridge and drinking them ASAP.

I cracked one open a couple weeks ago and it was terrific, no signs of sourness.

Had a bottle about a month ago... was very good. Many imperial stouts have a slight tartness, no?

Some do but most don't at least my palate hasn't detected it with most, I hadn't detected it in any of the previous bottles I've tried. I need to open another one and see I guess.

highly doubt any 2010 abyss is infected. probably aberrant flavor perception by your friend and the power of suggestion for everyone else (not like he tasted something that wasn't there, but that something read as "sour" to him that others perceive as something else).

Haven't noticed any issues with the '10 - even the '09 opened a week ago wasn't dramatically sour that I could tell, just slightly so.

The 2010 and subsequent batches were pasteurized, so infection is almost impossible.

Yes, it is all infected and horribly bad. Please send me any bottles you have for proper disposal.

My wife and I had one this week and it was spot on. I could drink it every day. As Jaredshoupe said i would gladly take some if anyone is worried about.

2010 is a good vintage. No infections in those bottles.
