Just found a bottle of this at my local bottle shop? Debating whether to open it now or let it age even longer. Anyone have any experience with this particular vintage?

It's a pretty sweet barley wine to begin with. Not one that needs time for the rough hop or booze edge to mellow. I'm aging a few, but that's more a product of just not getting it into the drinking queue. I'd say it's ready at release. So, IMO, drink up.

It's a good beer, but I will say open it and then you can keep you eye out for it in the future knowing if you like it or not.

I'm going to dissent here and say that the 2008 version I had on draft earlier this year was one of the best beers I've had.

Agreed, Had the 2008 a year or so ago and it was phenomenal.

In general, I think this beer ages better than most of the beers I see people cellaring.

Glad i saw this as there's an '08 that has unintentionally lingered in the cellar over the past couple years. I'll add it to our holiday tasting next weekend, and I'll be sure to post a report.

Had a 2009 and 2010 at 4 Elf and thought the 2009 was definitely better. Either way, it'll get you drunk.
