A co-worker gave me a bottle of BC Vanilla Stout from 2010. Pretty sure I'm drinking it soon. Did he give me something amazing or past its prime?

Only one way to find out. Two, I guess. You could also read recent reviews here.

Also, don't let someone try to message you and try to rip you off via trade. Drink it. It is drinking very well right now.

Don't even second guess yourself. Even if the vanilla is a little faded, it will still be a ridiculously tasty brew.
Open it with some friends and enjoy!

Whoever your co-worker is, make sure you return the favor. That is one heck of a gift. Enjoy!

    Quite a gift.

I'd probably drink it sooner rather than later, and preferrably shared with a friend that appreciates good beer.

Your coworker really hooked you up! You'll probably get a dozen private messages with people offering "to trade you a fresh Vanilla Rye for your old Vanilla" but ignore them. You've got a beer that has generally held up very well, and you likely won't have another opportunity to try it. If you don't plan on consuming it soon, keep it in the fridge to preserve the remaining vanilla flavor/aroma.

What they all said. It's possible the storage conditions sucked and it's total shit, but more than likely it's quite nice still and a rare treat you won't have again anytime soon.

Thanks folks. I'm probably drinking it tonight, or by the weekend for sure. I've had BCBS before, but this bottle definitely caught my attention being a 2010 and all. Plus, I don't know why someone would part with it, but I'm done asking questions...time to crack it!

It was amazing...truly an outstanding beer. Crazy smooth despite it being so thick and black as night.
