I think the cap says it was a gold medal winning beer in 2010 or something like that. The date should be on the neck

I just bought a sixer of Union Jack bottled 5/24/12 that had a "2010 World Beer Cup Champ" cap. I'd check the date on the bottle, not the cap.

Edit: Bobheed beat me too it.

Yeah, they must have bought a shit load of those caps, because, every firestone beer I've had for the past two years have had that cap.

One of the best DIPAs that I've had. Enjoy!

Doubt it was 2010, would have been a complete malt bomb and nothing like it's supposed to taste (or smell). Check the neck, should have a bottling date in black ink. FW advises to drink DJ within 120 days, and to keep it cold. A great beer fresh but it falls off pretty fast.

If it had the black plastic on the cap, it was fairly fresh, meaning 2012. I love Double and Union, two of my favorites. The problem I have been finding, is my State gets to much of each and it takes awhile to see fresher bottles. Meaning I have been drinking 3/15/12 Double and 4/18/12 Union for many months and good now yes, but inside a month sublime. Example, Resin in the last 2 months has said best before 12/19/12, then next batch 1/23/13, and then the newest 3/18/13. So Resin is turning over quickly. A lot people think we hop heads get a little crazy with dates, but it makes a huge difference. Been drinking 2 week old Lunch and Zoe and WOW, the hops are bursting, so damn tasty.

    Warning, BA problems below.

I'm getting pretty tired of the gold metal cap. Anyone seen the cap on FW12? That cap is tits and they should go back to using it. I would pepper my fridge in those bad boys.

The cap says "Champion mid-size brewery 2010"! I don't know what you think bottle dating is? But, accolades on a cap or bottle is NOT bottle dating. FW has a printed bottle date on or near the neck of their bottles. May need to hold it up to some light to see it.

As everyone else said, this is referring to their 2010 award. I may be wrong, but I think this was only released in bottles within the last year or so.
