Just got back from a DFH event, where one of the beers in my flight (also had a 120 Min and 2011 Palo Santo Marron) was a 2010 World Wide Stout and I figured I'd share my thought for those of you that have some bottles you've been sitting on.

***disclaimer I've never had this fresh

I though this drank fantastic. Alcohol is non-existent in the taste. If you like sweet beer, you'll love this. Malts, roared malts,Caramel, toffee chocolate and a very slight coffee beam bitterness hit you upfront. That fades into sweet chocolate and dark raisins & figs. There is a black licorice taste that mixes with the sweetness to make this extremely smooth. Nice dark fruit esthers on the exhale

I might be crazy, but this reminded me of a 2011 Abyss or like a Serpents Stout.

If you have a 2010 bottle is definitely recommend cracking it open

    Cheers!

Mine's an 09. It will be opened 5 years after it's bottling date along with a fresh bottle.

2004 WWS remains my favorite aged beer of all time. Stupidly complex and tasty!

Fresh; the beer is very meh, one dimensional, and too boozy.

When did you drink the 04? This year?

I've had a few spread out over the last two years. Most recently was back in July.

Nice. The price has prevented me from actively hunting bottles of this, but having just tasted this aged I might have to reconsider

Had a little mini 3 year vertical at the March Madness party this year. All were very good.

DFH is like Rob Deer (dating myself here, maybe Mark Reynolds nowadays) for me. Strikes out a lot, but when they make contact, its a home run.

I have not had 2004, but I complete agree with your comments. I did a 06-11 vertical and the older the beer got, the better it got.

To anyone that enjoys the beer with 1-2 years of just be patient and let it age some more, you won't be disappointed.

I'm usually pretty against aging most beers, but WWS is certainly an exception. It almost turns into something completely different. I have an 08-10, and will probably crack them next year or so.

As far as I'm concerned, a WWS with some age on it > Black Tuesday
