Opened a bottle tonight, it aged very well. Less boozy and much more balanced. Fresh bottles are usually too sweet to finish even half a bottle, let it sit for a year and it calms down on the sweetness. I definitely recommend buying a bottle to age if you love this beer fresh.
im going to have tolet it sit... i opened one fresh and it was so bad the wife and i actually poured it out. the entire series we actually poured out. we thought they were awful and we drink damn near everything.
Creme brûlée and Chokolat Black and Tans are the best! Also, Creme brûlée starts to fall off after the second year. I've an 09 and earlier in the year I had one and it really seemed to thin out and loose flavor. Just my $.02
Agreed, 2 years are virtually required on the Blackwater series. Way too rich and sweet when fresh. 2010 Creme Brulee is a much better beer IMO.
I say no way to that. Choklat, Mokah, Oat and Jahva are all best fresh. I'll even say Creme Brulee is even better fresh. I do not like the way the malt takes over if you age these beers.
I had a 2 year old Jahva that was wayyy better aged than it was fresh the other month. Creme Brulee is good, but I agree.. atleast 6 months on it is good. I've got two Mokahs sitting, because I couldn't drink the one I opened. However.. Choklat.. That is a good beer, and non aged, it's the best of the bunch.
Thought about breaking open my 2011, but I may wait until later in the year or sometime early next year. In no rush to get to it.
