I bought a case of this fresh and opened a few here and there over the years. Tonight however I popped the cap on one and the cork immediately began to pop out. I managed to stop it and let the excess gas out slowly; saving all the beer.

I noticed its VERY sour now and quite a bit more funky than I remember. Is this a sign I should drink the rest soon or should I persist with my aging of this stuff? Beer is stored in a cooler constant temp 55 degrees.

Nope, I would say you are fine. Different wild bugs do different things with regards to flavor over time, these ones apparently make an acidic, sour flavor profile.

Some wild ales go funky, some sour over time. When I brewed and did sours I could kind of tell where a beer was going to go as it aged when I started getting better at the process, so I guess the brewer would know best if this is normal for the beer. Try emailing Lindemans and see if they bother to keep any batches for taste testing and see what they say.

If you don't like them sour I'll trade ya for some aged stuff if you like, just message me.

    Still sipping this one..

I think its been a while since I had my last proper sour and it hit me a bit hard. It still tastes great but I was surprised at how much more funky it has gotten.

I drank an 09' earlier this year and it was quite sharp and acidic as compared to younger batches I'd had. However it is lambic so it should be fine for years and years, especially if if you're cellaring at 55 degrees.

Nope, getting better. I find Cuvee Rene to be too tame when fresh
