My friend and I have been drinking some quality RIS lately and I have to say 2011 Parabola really impressed. IMHO, it solidly beats out Black Tuesday, KBS and The Abyss. I need to find more bottles.

I just picked up a bottle tonight, so I may have to test this theory of yours!

good to know, gonna hang on to mine for a couple years probably, though I did have it on draft last year, pretty awesome, probably the most vanilla I've ever gotten in a beer, and I love vanilla. Haha maybe I'll catch some shit for this, but it kinda reminded me of Southern Tier Creme Brulee stout (which is undrinkable), but in a good way. It was like a drinkable version of what creme brulee stout wanted to be. Just picked up my 2012 today, straight to the closet cellar with that one, it's a good brew but for the price I don't need more than one or two a year, I already can't keep up with all the good beer available.

I really like Parabola, but it doesn't beat BT (I agree with the rest though). I did a side-by-side with '11 and '12 last weekend, and I actually preferred 12.

I have an 2011 I plan on drinking with my Father In Law in a week from now , I would do a side by side with a 2012 with him but he's in his 60's and will probably be napping halfway through the 2011

Doing '10, '11 and '12 next weekend, will report back with my findings.

I do believe Parabola is one of, if not the best stout in the world for the money however money aside I do prefer BT.

I have 1 last bottle in the cellar that I will probably be breaking out soon. I am curious as to how it aged.

Creme Brulee is too much of a good thing. I don't mind sweet beers, but the vanilla is way over-the-top.

I was fortunate to stash away 4 bottles of this year's Parabola. Planning to try one tomorrow night, after a clean palate following a nicely grilled dinner. Comes highly recommeded from a source i trust implicilty.

I have to say I agree, all this nonsense I keep hearing about parabola not aging well blows my mind. I am thinking the people who are saying this are probably aging bottles in a hot closet as opposed to a cool basement because the bottle I opened the other day was sublime. still waiting for the 2012 to hit the shelves here in ma

They recommend aging it at 40 degrees in a cooler and it's obviously dark, from their web sight I believe, so they propose aging of the brew.

Agreed on it beating out abyss. Recently did a tasting of 11 abyss and 11 Parabola side by side, they were very close but nearly everyone agreed that Parabola was better. Cant wait to get the 12!
