Just found one in a random box of beer in the cellar at work. Obviously Cherry Rye's still fairly valuable, but since there have been subsequent releases of BCBCS (albeit in a different format), I'm curious as to what (if anything) this one's worth. Thanks!

allowing for vintage but also that the coffee is moderately-to-substantially faded? I'd say it's maybe worth a 4-pack of BCBCS '13

Hmm I don't think you would get someone to give up 48 ounces of probably better 2013 bcbcs for 22 ounces of a single bottle. I probably wouldn't give up 2 2013...would rather have the 2 bottles I could drink separately with the fresher coffee.

Anyways there you go...I would say 2-3 bottles or something like black note or bbptf or KBS.

Fair enough. I don't expect to do much with it (except drink it...for science, of course), just genuinely curious. Thanks guys!

Just a heads up on this vintage of BCBCS. The coffee hasn't faded very much and the beer is the best vintage of BCBCS out their. I would be drinking that BCBCS and see the glorious beer that you have OP.

I have had 11-12-13 coffee and 12 is my favorite. I had my last 12 two weeks ago and it is still better than 13 to me.

Did a tasting last year back to the '10 coffee, which was a 3 year old BCBCS at the time. The coffee was strong as hell, and really delicious. These hold up way better than I think people realize.

Did a tasting a few months ago with the 3, and '11 was the standout winner of the group.

I haven't had '11, but love, absolutely LOVE '12 and '13 equally. Depending on your preference and mood, they are delicious equally in different ways. '12 is much more mellowed, but perfect mellow and balance of coffee into BCBS while coffee '13 is very prominent and different.

I think you can go oz4oz on this with 1:2 of '12:'13 with '13 adding a 3rd for '12 being harder to get. For everything else, I think it trades roughly for the value of Backyard, give or take. I'd personally hang on to it and drink it.

Got a 12 1:1 for a Bo and Luke a few months ago. 13 is still my favorite but the 12 has plenty of coffee and bourbon to it. More bourbon than the 13 in my opinion. Only one left to try is 11 which is patiently waiting in the cellar for a share to open all 11's. Definetly keep it and enjoy!

I had 4 bottles of '12. Drank one every 6 months. The coffee was barely there at 6 months and non-existent at a year for me. I agree that its still an absolutely delicious beer (top 5, easily) ... but it confuses me how people claim to pick up on so much coffee in nearly 2 year old bottles.

I kept my '13 bottles in the fridge from the moment I bought them to help maintain that coffee flavor. Although it definitely lasted longer than the '12's coffee notes, it is still slowly fading. And any bottles I traded for, in which they weren't kept at fridge temps, the coffee was significantly more muted than my refrigerated bottles were.

Honestly, my belief is the older coffees are liked more because you're drinking a mellowed out BCS at a lower abv. The coffees are around 13% compared to the 15% of the regulars. They're better balanced.

Not sure what to tell you. When we had '10 coffee last year, all 6 or so of us could still taste tons and tons of coffee. The same went for every vintage thereafter. Now, BCBVS on the other hand...

I recently traded one essentially straight up for a CW16. I had no idea on the value, just took a shot in the dark.... hope that helps?
