Is it possible to get this with locals or no? I ask because aside from giving up my future first born for one, its one of the first beers I saw on here when I joined and one of the first out of state beers I really wanted to try.

I can see the value of vintages by looking through trade offerings and such but not sure of what the value for a 2012 would be. (i know ~$15 a bottle, rare, tickets etc)

This is kind of like a feeler. Any advice on this one would be appreciated.

You live in Philly I am sure you can put something together to get one. Fill out your gots some people with dark lord might see this and make you an offer.

DL is one of the easier limited releases to trade for, mostly because it's a pretty massive quantity as far as limited releases go. However, "true locals" usually aren't quite enough. But, there are plenty of off the shelf beers that will do it. For example, Parabola went for DL plenty of times last year. CBS, King Henry, BCBS variants, Cantillons, etc are all the kinds of "off the shelf" things that will land Dark Lord.

you can definitely find things in philly that would trade for DL. limited bottles from firestone walker, founders, 5050, cantillon (lol), cigar city, etc. maybe heady topper?

Was the bottle limit 4 again this year? Hoping to snag 2 so I can age one, but might be hard if that's half of someone's allotment.

I'd give up a 4-pack of HT in a second for a DL, but I'd feel guilty about it.

Let me see, 12,000 bottles, had to buy tickets if you were lucky enough to get them, had to drive to the event, had to stand in the rain, had to stand in line..... So it should be 1 DL for 2 Beatifications minimum for all the extra "stuff" we had to go through to get DL.

Good luck getting 2 beats for a Dark Lord straight up.

You pay the ticket for Dark Lord for the event itself, did you not enjoy yourself?

It was actually 24,000 bottles. And even though it was raining, if you didn't have an awesome time in line you were doing it wrong.

Should of hit the obvious sarcasm button. I was able to get beatification from some great trading partners. There were many who did not and were frustrated that they couldn't get it easily when it was for sale at the pub for so long. I'm sure there are some thinking since the bottle count, price, and desirability are roughly similar and that because of the lower bottle limit and only being able to get it on one day, that DL should be worth more than Beatification. I'm sure we will see come crazy FT threads asking for the world, it just seems to be the way the FT:ISO threads are going lately.
In answer to your question, yes I did have a great time, I got my tickets on line and was able to hook up a tasting group member who got shut out. Also, all my extra DL is going to regular trading partners, so I don't have any to trade at the moment.

Ah, I didn't sense the sarcasm, my meter must be out of juice.

The only reason I see it going 1:1 is that that are priced the same, and there is less Beat than Dark Lord out there. Even though Beat is still for sale, it's simply in higher demand than Dark Lord because of it's reputation, it's Hella good.

Cheers, and glad to see you had a good time yesterday, sounds like a lot did.

Beatification can also disappear for 3 years as it did last time.

Beatification is also good. We haven't had a good batch of Dark Lord in about five years.

From what I saw on Saturday, there are 6000 people that disagree with you.

Man, I'm gonna have to get my hands on a bottle of 2007 or older Dark Lord! I personally thought 2011 DL was pretty darn tasty. Can't imagine how good it must have tasted in previous years. :grimacing:

You would have me there if I was looking for regular Dark Lord and not a beer that obviously is going to taste vastly different.

I suppose, but those are some very tasty brews you're willing to give up for something that you're not a fan of the base beer. Just struck me as odd is all, as this is certainly not the first time I've seen you post your thoughts on Dark Lord
