I picked up a bottle of this today but had a few concerns. It's been on the shelf of this store, for amuse-ably 2 years now, aging in 70-80 degree temps. There is a ton of sediment floating around, which i hear is normal for this beer though. Now is this going to taste terrible because of the improper aging or will it have aged fine?

I saw there were a bunch of threads about aging this beer but none really talked about buying an old one that had been stored improperly. Thanks for the help!

It's fine. There are lots of threads on here about aging beers at improper temperatures. You won't notice a difference.

I saw a few like that, but all beers are different. Thanks for the advice.

I just saw a 2012 Double Bastard at a store that had large chunks of sediment at the bottom and some floating around the bottle. Would this have been good to drink? The last and only time I had DB it was a bit harsh.

I wound up buying a 2012 Old Guardian instead, never had it before. I know that barleywine ages well.

Interesting that so much 2012 is sitting around everywhere. One of my local stores had 7 cases of 2012 sitting around last fall so he marked them down to $3.99 and I snatched up a few bottles because why not. Not planning to drink them anytime soon.
