The HyVee store down the street from me has 2012 Pepe Nero sitting on a bottom shelf in a Goose Island display. My question is, since I know nothing about aging or cellaring beers, would it still be good, or does it need to be cellared to age properly? It's 9.99 for a 4 pack of 12 oz. bottles.

At $9.99 a 4 pack i think its worth the gamble. IMHO. Have you ever tried it fresh? i would try it side by side with the freshest example you can find. and see if you detect anything off in the smell & taste ect. i have 2 2012 pepe neros in my cellar/basement. the average year round temp down there is an average of about 50 degrees farenhiet give or take a few degrees. i had a third bottle of it a few months ago and it tasted fine to me. hope this helps.

The Kroger that I frequent has an ample supply of 2012 bombers of Pepe Nero at $8.49. I bought one last week as a sort of shot in the dark, and it was fantastic. I say go for it!

I'm not sure what is going on but I got a 2012 Matilda and Pere Jacques this weekend at Hy Vee in their pick six section. I assume the supplier is getting rid of a bunch of old stock.

Brought a 2012 PN bomber to a Christmas party this past December. It was fantastic. I think mine was also sitting on a store shelf for over a year.

I'd buy the 4 pack and drink one. Then age the rest since you already have a 2 year head start and see how they compare to fresh ones each year
