2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs BIF

sobeleg and I like the Caps! Certainly, the Pens (mostly due to Crosby), Flyers (due to their thuggish history), and Bruins (because they are from Boston ) have to be hated more than the Caps. After all, these teams have either won the Stanley Cup or made it to the finals in the last five years. All the poor Caps have accomplished in this time period are epic chokejobs. That being said, this series with the Bruins has been awesome.

 

I HATE when people say the Caps-Pens rivalry is because of Ovi-Crosby! (Although I am sure you are a good person haha) Take a look back at the old Patrick division matchup, and all the playoff series they met in throughout the 90s and early 2000s. That is where the rivalry has come from. I remember the hatred between the two teams when I went to a game at the MCICenter vs. Pens, who still featured Mario and Jagr at the time.

Don't know if you guys caught this video or not, but it is quite good...and I almost wet myself.

 

I wasn't specifically speaking about the Caps/Pens rivalry or Ovi/Crosby. Duffman just said that nobody likes the Caps and I was just pointing out other teams that are/should be hated more than the Caps. I don't know many people that like Crosby other than Pens fans and, fair or not, is a reason many people (not just Caps fans) hate the Pens.

Very true that most non Pens fans dislike Crosby. (Although kind of funny that 3-5 years ago, it seemed all non-Caps fans loved Crosby and hated Ovi, funny how things change)

I think the Caps-Pens rivalry got more national recognition with the ovi vs crosby thing. But it has always been a huge local rivalry. Everytime Larry Murphy an ex cap would touch the puck at home games all the fans would start making penguin noices. I loved the Patrick Division days every divison game was a street fight.

 

How about a Hauls thread? I know my box landed yesterday. I want credit for being a good loser!

The next round should be awesome! All four of the matchups look like they will go 6 or 7 games. Especially the West, all four teams have great defense and/or good goaltending.
