2012 Terrapin Wake and Bake

Faded coffee? The only W&B I ever had was a 2011 at a local craft beer bar a couple of months ago, and it had tons of coffee flavor. I don't know about the comparisons to FBS, because I have only had just tastings of that on two occasions and don't recall the same amount of potent coffee flavors as W&B.

 

yeah, imo, the coffee is a bit too intense fresh. love it with a year on it though!

Right now I'm using FBS instead of WnB until WnB hits NJ

hey guys im not sure as to how long this last on the shelves. i will be driving up to WV on wednesday does anyone know of a place near the interstate goin through say Savannah that i might be able to snag some on the way up?

 

My opinion is less chocolate and more coffee than last year. I did a side by side last year with FBS and found the WnB more chocolatey and less coffee-ey. Did the same side by side tonight and they tasted nearly identical.

Did an impromptu blind taste test with a couple friends also. Poured a breakfast stout in front of them, and when it was gone, offered a 'refill'. Took the glasses into the kitchen, filled with WnB, and returned. Halfway through one of them mentioned how they couldn't wait to try this year's WnB and that's when I brought out the bottle. None of the three noticed any difference til I told them.

All that to say; with the price increase, I probably won't be buying any more wake n bake.

 

What price point have you been seeing?

 

I have 3 years of WnB 2009-2012. All are slightly different. I would love to get some 2012 but am not traveling for work at the current time and Terrapin does not distribute to Upstate NY.

 

I've seen $11.99 at a few places in Atlanta. Still pretty reasonable for what it is, but it's no longer the "buy a case" beer it was before.

 

At least not yet. In my area, lots of the Terrapin stuff drops to $3.99/4 pack, $16.99 a case if it lasts too long. Unfortunately, I don't foresee WnB being in that category.

 

Has anyone seen this in either Statesboro or Savannah yet?

 

Hmm - I saw it at Green's the other day. I'm 90% sure it was that price, and their prices are generally reasonable to cheap.

 

I'd just like to get a 4-pk...but in Cali, not likely.

 

Reports in at $9.99 at our local TW..of course, it STILL isn't in stock yet either.
