skipped out on trying to get bourbon county this year and last year. Still have one 2013 regular in the fridge. Anyone have any thoughts on how those are drinking right now?

I was going to drink one on Friday but ended up catching a cold from the kids. I'll post in here when I drink it later this week.

I really think they are optimal at 5 years. They're also fine any time between then, too.

I had one recently. It's drinking great right now and will continue to drink well for many more years. My suggestion would be to wait until the 4-5 year mark.

Had one a few days ago in comparison to the 15 and they were very similar. The oak, I feel, becomes more dominant. As well as a molasses character and some slight oxidation.

    I prefer it fresh.

However, 13' was much better than 14'

Just drank a 2013 yesterday. It was super smooth. Most of the barrel heat was gone, but plenty of vanilla and oak in there. Very tasty.

If you've only got one, I'd probably sit on it a bit longer. Cheers!

When 2014 came out we did a 07-14 vertical and every person though 2013 was the best. Doesn't help to how it's drinking now, but I think it was the best batch.

That's funny because I personally was a huge fan of '12 over '13, although the '13 BW overshadowed both for me

Did a 12-14 the night before Thanksgiving and 13 was clearly the worst of the 3

Did 2011-2014 in May. 2013 had a ton of barrel flavors in it compared to the others. 2012 was the standout winner, followed by 2014, then 2013, then 2011.

In the past, this same result has held true that BCBS with 2.5-3.5 years are the "peak" (still awesome before turning downhill) and that the fresher batches are good, but results will depend on the user. 2011 was starting to turn downhill. It was still good, but I'm only aging my last one for novelty at this point. It will not get better.

Did 13-14 the night before Black Christmas. '13 was amazing. 14 was great but a touch hot and lacked the incredible smoothness. 15 was great fresh on tap, yet to crack a bottle.

Had a 2013-2015 vertical the other day with some friends. Most of us favor different styles of beers (gives you an idea of our different palates and usually there is little to no friend-to-friend influence) but we all agreed 2013 was definitely sweeter and had more vanilla to it than 2014. As 2015 is still super fresh, it's a no brainer the heat and bourbon (and deliciousness) is more upfront than anything else.

I favor 2014 because I felt it was the most balanced (at the time we did the vertical). I like my BCBS with about a year on it because the bourbon is still very much there and at that point, all the flavors have had the chance to melt together.
