I like how Great River Brewery is listed, but the beers they are brining are still: TBD. Probably trying to find something that isn't infected! I hope they have a brewery rep there, as I'm hoping I can finally voice my concerns with them over my experiences with Redband and trying to get in touch with them and getting to reply!! I still have 3 cans of infected Redband in my fridge. I should bring one, have them try it and see if they tell me to my face that is how the beer is supposed to taste or that it isn't infected!

I know you love your hops...
If you haven't tried them yet - Green Flash Pallet Wrecker, Boulevard Double Wide & Tallgrass Ethos stand out to me as must haves.

    Hope you get some Assassin.
    Good drinking!

^^^I have had all those IPAs you mentioned and love them greatly! Looking forward to the new Falconer's IPA from Peace Tree (Falconer's hops are supposed to be very tropical and citrusy), Millstream's DIPA and the OJ IPA from 515 Brewing. The brewer at Rock Bottom always has fantastic IPAs and sours too, which I look forward to. Also...I have never had TGs Brown Sugar or Irish Red, which I'm excited to try.

Wish I could come for TG and a few other Iowa brews!

Got to say though, I am not a fan of the crafty options like Batch 19 etc. Organizers need to say hell no to that kind of stuff, imo. It isn't a beer festival; it's a craft festival..

I agree 100%, though I'm not a member of the Iowa Brewer's Guild, so I guess I have no say. I realize they need to sell tickets and get as many people in the gates as possible to make it worthwhile for the Breweries, but it is a letdown to see Shocktop, Batch 19, Wood Chuck, Blue Moon and Leiny's. No...those are definitely NOT craft breweries, but hopefully they will draw in some new people who will sample real craft and convert them.

I think this is only the 3rd year and it seems to be getting stronger each year. It is a fest designed to showcase Iowa breweries, but hopefully in a few more years, this festival will also attract more regional Midwest breweries/attendees.

I think I pretty much agree with everything Nick said lol. Wish the "crafty" breweries weren't going to be there, but I'll just avoid them.

Really hope there's still some Assassin left when the general admission gates open. Kicking myself for not getting a VIP ticket!

It was fun last year, rain pushed everyone under the tents for the last couple of hours.

I hope they have tents again just so I can stand in the shade instead of baking in the sun!

Got my VIP ticket last week and I will be running like an idiot to the TG tent first! I made myself a little spread sheet this year with all the beers I want to try. That way after the first 20 samples I don't forget to try the second 20

Assassin bottles headed to DSM for the fest tomorrow. Small ration as usual. Afterwards head to El Bait Shop to try our new summer fun beer....Thresher IPA.

Have a great time at the fest and get a designated driver!

Only 25% of what we bring is gone after the VIP session so just see us early and say the magic words! (hint #28 rules!)

And even I would have a hard time disagreeing . And after all, he who hold the Assassin controls the Assassin.

Well I got to the TG both at 1:15 after waiting in a long line. I used the secret password but was told it was the wrong one. It appears Bears fans were in charge and wanted nothing to do with the Vikings? Anyway I was still able to get some Assassin! God dam that was the best beer I had all day! By 2:45 though when I made my way back arond to the TG tent they were out of beer! I want to give props to some other Iowa brewers to! 515 your OJ IPA and your Beliner Weiss were excellent! Also props to Confluance brewing your offerings were all solid as well I loved the Blue Corn Lager and the South Side Citra! Also shout outs to Keg Creek, Van Houzen, Exile,Peace Tree and CIB! CIB's Krieky Deeky was right on par with Assassin think cherries instead of chocolate. And their Pepper beer Orange Scoripan Chile was awsome as well! All in all it was a great showing by Iowa Breweries I am proud of my home state and the beers they are producing! We have come a long ways in five years and from what I tasted today we have come light years ahead of even last year! Keep up The great work Iowa Beer after your showing today you have a lot to be proud of!

Great time today. Nice meeting Brew Master Mike... Thanks for the Assassin, man! That was the standout of the fest for me. Love th the OJ IPA from 515 and the Falconers IPA from Peace Tree to round out my top 3 of the fest. Looking forward to next year!
