Doom was phenomenal fresh & hit its best point a few months later when it turned into a delicious butterscotch brew. Mango was great at first, but after a few sips tasted like Peach Cisco (im all about the bum wine, but lets get serious). Just bought my Sweet Repute as well, high hopes indeed. It's just too good of an idea/concoction to go wrong. Didn't vote cause I didnt fit into a bullet point, my explanation is above. great topic though!

Another vote for non- availability (only doom at 25 bucks a pop) and for them being too damn expensive.

I have Sweet coming via trade and tried Mango. I actually liked mango, but it wasn't excellent or even something I would get again. It reminded me of the spicy chilie mango candy I get in Mexico on surf trips.

I think mango would have gotten a better response if it wasn't so expensive, which I still don't understand why it did cost so much.

I wonder if people would be as hard on the Backstage Series if each offering was not as expensive as they are. It also seems like people want "The Whale That Was": CBS out of every release... but that's trying to compare adjunct lagers to oatmeal stouts. I REALLY enjoyed Mango Magnifico, every sip of the beer was a little different, and I thought the sweet and spicy balance was spot on. As for 2014? Please just make Nemesis 2010 again. Please. Please. Please. My kingdom for a beer.

They were terrible and would have been terrible at any price.

Excellent or mediocre. I think there needs to something in between. I did not think they were excellent, but I enjoyed them. Something mediocre I would most likely not try again.

I think Mango Magnifico was Founders biggest fumble. I don't know many people that enjoyed that beer, much less thought it lived up to the hype or the price. How can you dare make a mango habanero beer with little or no hops and still make it a 10% boozer? Nothing about that beer was good.

That being said, I love Doom. I've been lucky enough to drink it multiple times over the year, most recently 2 weeks ago on draft, and it is one of my favorites from 2013 for sure. Picked up my Sweet Repute yesterday but will not be opening any time soon. Most of these beers show up on draft sooner or later so I'd rather age the bottle. I'd be willing to bet a lot of people feel the same way and from hearing how well Nemisis '09 is drinking it only makes sense to let it sit for a while.

Since these beers are fairly limited and most people will be tempted to age them I think it's too early for this poll. I really don't think I can answer it even if I had tasted Repute because like I said... I hated MM but loved Doom.

Mango was a mess of a beer and a drain pour for me. Doom was very meh. I've got high hopes for Sweet, but based on recent history with these releases I'm not holding my breath.

Easy now Brandon, it's an "Opinion thread"!
I didn't care for doom, was worried about Mango but really liked it and bought multiple bottles to actually enjoy myself. Haven't tried SR yet, but my chance for that could come tonight!
I would probably still buy bottles of Mango if I had any cash left... Anyone that hated it want to send me theirs?

Agree. I'm not sympathetic to people who are butt-hurt that their favorite Founders beer was not the last Backstage release. "Brewed for us, enjoyed by you" or something, right? Not your style? Don't buy it. But I do think for the price of these beers, people have the right to expect a great brewery like Founders to kill it with their specialty releases. Even accounting for "This Backstage release isn't my style", the ratings would suggest the last 4 Backstage beers have been OK but haven't "killed it". I feel this way, so I am hedging on pulling the trigger on Sweet Repute. Then again, it might be the next Nemesis....Damn you, Founders.

Doom was fantastic. Mango Magnifico was far too sweet for my tastes.
