No way. Not if you have the option to buy a 2014 case. FBS is best fresh.

I just picked a case of 2013 FBS last week for $39 in clearance section of local distributor. Drinking like a champ right now, still coffee present.

My take from previous comments is that the answer depends on your preference for the coffee flavor. I bought a 4-pack in October and had the first one I've ever had fresh (had a couple others that must have been fairly old). The coffee overwhelmed me, but I'm not a coffee drinker. I'll try the second bottle from the 4-pack in February or March and see what's shaking. Next year I'll probably avoid coffee stouts.

personally, prefer the 2013 over the fresh. though, ive picked up a variety of the recent release to see how it ages. currently, have 3 or 4 different bottling dates for the 2014 batch.

The thing is, some people prefer FBS with a bit of age on it. Namely, me. The best thing about aging beer is finding out what you like. There really is no hard and fast rules about aging beer.

It depends on the kind of stout you prefer. . . FBS is a "Double Chocolate Coffee Stout." If you enjoy a more chocolate forward stout, then go for it. The longer you age it, the more it will taste like a chocolate stout rather than a coffee stout.

This exactly for me too. After reading these responses, it sounds like I should just let the bottles I have sit around a while rather then give them away.

    i recently did a three year vertical of 14, 13, and, 12.

14 fresh and full of coffee and chocolate
13 had a stale coffee flavor (in a good way, to me at least) with lots of chocolate, still good but definitely not the same beer.
12 oxidized and a muddy mess

so my advice is as other have said, if you plan to drink it now go for it but don't hold on to it
