I have a 2013 Hunahpu that I've been hanging onto for some time, and I'm curious as to how it's held up. I'd love to have it at it's peak, and a part of me wonders if I'll have the chance to have a fresh.

Now for the 'Beer Trading Help':
Assuming someone is willing to trade their 2015 for 2013, do you think 1:1 fair (I'd like an even trade, so if I have to add, I'm more than willing)?

You'll probably get a lot of "Hunahpu's Aging Hate", but every year has been different.

The 2012 peaked around 18 months for me, when the heat & the base beer were in perfect harmony. I haven't had a 2013 in a while, but it could very well be beautiful right now too. The 2014, like the 2010, was great right away, so I suspect that one won't age quite so well. And by aging not quite so well, I mean slipping towards tasting like Zhukov's with just a touch of distant spice, which isn't too bad if you think about it.

I doubt you'd get a taker for a 13-15 swap, especially because it "doesn't age well". Sounds like CC has ratcheted down production for 2015 for whatever reason & there isn't going to be as many bottles around. I've always been able to trade for Hunahpu's for good, limited locals, but the impending "shortage" means the trade board offers have escalated very suddenly.

    I drank a 2013 just a few weeks back.

It was good BUT I sensed there must have been a drop off

The aroma was borderline teriyaki sauce but did not come through in the flavor. The taste was more chocolate then coffee or vanilla. The heat was present but faded quickly.

Good but I don't think it was at the level of fresh Huna.

I did enjoy the fresh Prairie Bomb! I had weeks earlier much more because of the heat.

about a month or so ago we drank a 12, 13 and 14...with the 14 being just under a year old. The 14 was by far the best to everyone there. The 13 was no slouch though and was damn tasty. We are about to do a 14 vs 15 soon as well.

CCB didn't "ratchet down production" they just bottled less this year than last year. The put more into kegs than in past years. 2014 was the largest batch of Hunahpu yet, and then after the issues on Hunahpu Day, they did a 2nd batch (Make-up batch) so they could offer bottles for people that got shut out. But 2015 isn't a much smaller batch, they just bottled less of it (8,000 bottles total)

CCB produced 10,000 bottles this year. 2,500 tickets with each ticket allocated 4 bottles.
